Ok, so my husband things I'm CRAZY. I swear that I had read online that during your meal at AP ... the servers end up coming out at the end in colorful shirts instead of the black and white dress shirts that they have on. Was that once a thing? Cause it definitely didn't happen the two times we ate there last week and now he thinks it's hilarious ....

Yep, that was definitely a thing, at least in 2004 it was. I swear those same vests were being worn by Epcot CMs during the Festival of Arts.

Animator's Palate show on the classic ships used to be a black & white to color transformation during the meal. That never happened on the Dream class ships. And the Magic class ship were changed to what the Dream class ships have (Crush and Drawn to the Magic) during their respective last dry dock.

Nope. On the Magic in Feb we did NOT have Crush. We had the black and white to color with Sorcerer Mickey.

I believe what was added was the thing the second (or third if 2nd is Pirate) night when you draw and you have the limited menu.

Yeah, I said it wrong. On the Magic & Wonder they have the color changing show INSTEAD of the Crush show. Those cruises long enough also have the Drawn to the Magic show that's on the Fantasy. The Dream only has the Crush show.

Thanks.

No Crush on the Wonder either, but the black-and-white to color show has been updated. I seem to recall a costume change also, but it did not happen in March.

It was definitely a thing on the Wonder in 2014. Both the room and the servers' vests changed from black and white to color.

You're not crazy. Or at least this recollection of yours isn't evidence of craziness. :earsboy:

The vest changed on the Magic in Feb. All the servers and assistants disappeared just before the show started.

They didn't change on the Wonder in Februay.
I enjoy the show much more thought on the Magic and Wonder than Fantasy and Dream.

The Magic and Wonder always had subtle differences in the AP show. The vests on both always changed but the Wonder never had Sorcerer Mickey come out with the head chef. They may have changed it some more if the Wonder isn't doing the colorized vests. (Almost gave away the way the vests changed)

Agree that on our last 2 cruises on the Wonder in February they had new shirts and no black and white to color vests, disappointed. We were at Epcot the few days before 1 of the cruises and did see the vests there during the art show time.

Kind of off topic, but still involves the vests: My son's college English class had a "Disney" option that they could sign up for. To this day I don't really know what the difference was except it cost me $1K more than the normal class and he got to spend spring break at WDW, but I digress.

As part of the class trip, they took a behind the scenes tour at Epcot. He told me that they were going though some of the costume areas and he spotted what he thought were DCL AP vests. Turns out that they were indeed the same vests, but they were using them somewhere in the parks. He told me the venue, but it escapes me at the moment. Who knows, maybe that is where the missing Wonder changeable vests went!

Back to the original topic, I think AP on the Magic gets it right. I love how they combine the original concept of black and white to color, the server parade, and Sorcerer Mickey coming out with the new technology. I also really enjoy the Drawn to Magic show. I'm not a fan of the Dream class version, where everything is already colorful when you enter the room. It really kind of spoiled the whole thing for me. And don't get me started about Crush. I really have no desire to have a talking turtle interrupting our dinner. Love that he didn't make the leap to the reimagined classics!

Edited to add: @IrishEye you and were typing at the same time. I think you provided the missing piece to my story!!

I don't have a good photo with the white vests, but this one shows the coloured side from our cruise in Jan 2015 on the Magic. All they have to do is quickly flip the vests.
