Longtime DIS'er, Leota (Eileen), her hubby, Gary and son, Max, were visiting Chicago this week, lots of sightseeing, visiting some family friends too. Eileen had let me know she was going to be in town and asked if Marie and I could join the three of them for lunch one day. A quick check of schedules and all was set. :) As it turned out, Gary was called back home this morning for a business crisis, so he was not able to be there (and I was really looking forward to meeting him too, darn it, having talked to him a bit in the past on the phone, but, work calls).

It was great seeing both Eileen and Max again, having previously met both at WDW, and for Marie to meet them both for the first time. We had a most enjoyable lunch and nice, relaxed conversation at a very nice downtown Cajun/Creole menued restaurant, Heaven on Seven. Neither Marie nor I had heard of it, though Eileen had eaten there on previous Chicago visits....takes an out-of-towner to show us locals the ropes, LOL. And it was GREAT. Very tasty, and HOT, truly Cajun. :firefight

Thought I would share a few pictures of the day (and just a few) (Marie told Eileen, as we parted ways, that I would probably have her up on the DIS before the night was over, LOL :p)

Here is a picture of Eileen and Max, after our meal (notice a few hot sauces on the table. )

A picture of the four of us, in front of the walls of hot sauces, ALL different!!!! I think we lined up, front row by height, and then me in back as usual, LOL. I couldn't believe how much Max had grown since I last saw him, about 2 years ago. And what a gentleman. Marie really enjoyed meeting Eileen (they both jabbered along just great :)) and Max (he's no slouch in the talking department either).

And, as we left the restaurant, Eileen and Max headed up north on Michigan Avenue for a little more sightseeing, we headed back home. I took this one of our two friends, friends we have made through this little place we all call The DIS. Eileen and Max, in front of the Chicago Cultural Center, the AON Center (formerly Amoco Building) in the background (one of the Big 3....Sears Tower, Hancock and AON here in Chicago).

We all really enjoyed our afternoon together. I was happy to have Marie be able to meet another person, Leota, and her son, Max, who help make the DIS what it is, Family. A nice day indeed, thought I would share it.

(Oh, and regarding the couple DIS'ers in the subject line, the second one is Lady M. :teeth:

Hi Dan!

Thanks for the pictures and the post!!

Living in Indiana we've been to Chicago quite a bit and I've never heard of that restaurant either. I think you just gave my husband a new restaurant to try. He loves Cajun / Creole foods. He'd be in awe of the wall of hot sauces.

I don't know when we'll be to Chicago next but I'm sure he'll want to try it out.

Nice pics.

My son would love to see that hot sauce wall.

:D
WOW ... Max sure is grown up now! Great that you all got together:D

What great pics!! Marie looks ggod, Dan. Hope she is also feeling well these days. I am sure she has been stressed with her tests lately!

Great to see Eileen and Max also. He was always the cutest little guy--visiting us from, where? School?! :p He seems like such a neat kid and why not? With someone as inspirational and caring (& pretty!) as Eileen for his mom! He sure has grown up!
Sorry about her DH. But I bet they found fun anyway!

You shouldn't have hid behind Max. We can't see the Atkins thing going on so good with you back there!

Glad to hear you all had fun. As for hot food, at least you know a FF!!:)

Oh my gosh, look how tall Max is! He's growing into a man right before our very eyes!!!! :cloud9:

Eileen and Marie both look fantastic! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I bet you guys had a great time today, Dan. I love talking to Eileen. She is just one of those you people you instantly like and feel like you've known forever.

Thanks for sharing with us Dan! :Pinkbounc

Heaven on Seven is soooooo good. I worked for a law firm in 2001 and we went there for our office party. we had like 10 different appetizers and then a sit down meal.It was the best meal I had in a while. i thought the wall of hot sauces (what is in the background of the picture) was hysterical there. And there signature drink (forgot the name) was also very good.

Holy cow----have a bottle of hot sauce (or two...or three)!!! Glad you had fun!

It's always great to see Eileen! I'm glad 'yall had a wonderful time...:D

Wow Eileen looks fab! She was just complaining to me that she was getting fat! Huh, I should be so fat! :p Max looks great too, its hard to believe how big he is now. I remember when we all started posting how young he was, he looks like a man now!
