A newbie ? about the DVC website

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but...?

We recently got our new member cards, and yesterday the big postcards with the PIN numbers came. We've wanted so badly to get onto the member web site, even tried the "generic" password we were given when we first became "official" but haven't had any luck yet. So we were so excited to try our PINS out and explore the mysteries of the website. But when we put in our membership number, apparently we have the "wrong format" (no numbers after the dash). Should I be looking in my paperwork for some other member ID number that I should be using (other than the membership number on the blue member card that I thought was the one it called for)? I can't seem to find anything in all the stuff we've received that looks like it will work. Help, please! What am I doing wrong?

The 'Vacation Club ID' is not your member number. It is a different number that you need enter the first time you access the member site. They should have sent it out on a separate mailing from your pin. Mine was in the format of a seven digit number then -1 and my wife's was the same seven digits -2.

If you lost or didn't receive the ID# MS will give it to you over the phone. Give them a call.

How long does it take to get your cards? We bought a resale and closed on 10/27.
