A newbie, a nana, two princess, and......the Planner! (Updated 1/4--DTD & head home)

Ok, both DDs are sleeping right now, so I'm going to try to get the post about our Crystal Palace breakfast done.

We had an 8:05 ADR because I wanted to get into the park before it was open. We had to wait a little bit for a bus, but had no problems being admitted to the park once we arrived. I don't think they even asked for our confirmation number..........although, I know they had a list at other breakfasts we went to, so they probably did here too and I just don't remember :confused3 .

I took a few pictures of the fall decorations on the way in.

I though it was really cool too see Main Street with so few people. Although DH is NOT a big fan of getting up early, especially on vacation, he did agree that this was pretty cool, and we will be doing it on our January trip (more about that later ;) ).

Once again, the food was just ok here. Nothing too spectacular, but still good. We did have a good waitress who made sure that our drink glasses were always full and that the dirty plates got removed quickly. I also enjoyed this meal because we're not really big breakfast eaters at home, but we all love breakfast food. The one thing my mom did really enjoy was the puffed french toast. I tried the breakfast lasagna (I think I was the only one at our table that did), but I honestly didn't really like it. The other great thing about the buffets is that Addy could eat whatever she wanted. She is a really good eater.........in fact, she usually eats more than Anna, so this was an important factor for us.

Ok, on to the characters. Pooh and the other characters here are my favorites. In fact, Anna's nursery was decorated in Pooh. We were pretty disappointed initially because Eyeore came while we were at the buffet, so we didn't get to see him. My mom waited at the table though, and she did get our autograph books signed. We planned to wait for him to come back around, but in the end it took too long, and we never did get to see him.

Next came Piglet who is one of my favorite character at Disney. Who wouldn't love a cute little pig? Anna was all about her autographs, so we got those done first, and then we took some pictures.
DisneyWorld092.jpg

DisneyWorld093.jpg

Shorlty after Piglet came Pooh. We had seen him coming, so we postponed a second trip to the buffet to wait for him.
DisneyWorld094.jpg

DisneyWorld095.jpg

After Pooh came around, we made another quick trip through the buffet, and then they started the parade. Anna was really excited, but insisted that I needed to go with her, so I did. I wanted her to enjoy herself, and there were a lot of other parents doing it, so I didn't feel quite as embarrassed. Unfortunately, or maybe luckily for me :rotfl: , there are no pictures of this.

We had to wait quite a while, but Tigger finally made his way to our table. DH is a Tigger fan, so he had his picture taken with Tigger too. As you may be noticing, Anna is doing her hugging (her picture pose :) ). She had to get her autograph book signed first though.

Eyeore still hadn't made it back to our side of the room by this point, and we were ready to get into the park (which had already opened), so we decided to just go ahead and go. Before we left though, I had to take some pictures with the topiaries. I love the way the Crystal Palace is decorated, and I just think these are cool.

While I did feel that the characters here were a little rushed, I still think that characters meals are the way to go, especially if you have younger children. Anna really didn't want to wait in the lines to see the characters at the parks. We did a few times, but not very many because she was more interested in doing other things. She didn't want to wait an hour in line to see Mickey Mouse when she could be riding Splash Mountain again :thumbsup2 !

I agree that the character meals are the way to go. My DS (6) loves them and DD (19 months) didn't mind them either. My DD has the same princess coat your daughter has on in this photo. Both your DD's are adorable.

That has to be the cutest tinker belle I've ever seen! How adorable. Things like this make me wish we had kids. Dh says all I have to do is give the word, but we've only been married 4 months so I think i'll wait a little longer before we give up our freedom hehe. Oh I still have a bad temper...I just have gotten better at knowing when it is flaring up. I used to keep it all bottled up and that can consume you so I try to talk to dh if i'm really mad, which I really was today b/c there is a good chance we can't go to disney and I'm annoyed b/c his dad is the president of the company and I'm not saying that should get us time off, but they just let a lady off to go see her grandbaby for like a week and she has been working at the company way shorter time than dh has so thats annoying for her to get that off and to be told well we don't know if you can have time off and hem and haw over it. Tell us point blank yes or no and quit stringing us along. So I did the treadmill for 25 minutes when I got home to get some of that anger out:goodvibes Might as well put it to good use. And your not bias they are both adorable! I'm glad you guys had a good experience at BBB b/c I've heard some bad things about that place, but I've also heard good things as well. That was very sweet of your dh to get his hair all glittery and gross for your daughter. I can't see my dad doing that, but thats probably b/c he is losing all his hair :lmao: I'm sure he would of back in the day when we went though had they had the bbb. Can't wait to hear about the party! :thumbsup2

Aww. Cute pics. I'm so happy you had a good experience at the castle. She looks like a sweet lady too. It's all about the FGIT. They make it or break it.

Hi! Thank you so much for the comment about my DDs. The are definitely my little sweethearts. The character meals made life a lot easier for us. We did stand in line a couple of times to see characters, but DD #1 just wasn't really interested in that. She was much more entertained by riding the rides.

I know how hard it is when you work for family. My DH used to work for his parents, and it made me crazy. They treated him like crap and expected him to put in extra time with no regard to the fact that he had me and a baby at home. Honestly, I was so glad when he quit working for them. It made both of our lives a lot easier......many less arguments. I definitely think that they should let him off, and they definitely need to let you know one way or another. It's ridiculous to string you along like that.

DH is usually a pretty good sport about things. Considering that he didn't know Cinderella from Alice in Wonderland when we first got together, I think that he's made a lot of progress :rotfl: . I guess that's what happens when you have two little girls, especially one who is as much of a princess as Anna is.

Aww. Cute pics. I'm so happy you had a good experience at the castle. She looks like a sweet lady too. It's all about the FGIT. They make it or break it.

Our FGIT was WONDERFUL, and I could definitely see how a bad one could ruin the experience together. I couldn't have asked for a nicer person. Plus, it was pretty cool that she was from the same state as us (still 3 hours away, but she did actually know where the tiny town we live in is).

Ok everyone, it's date night tonight (that means no kids :) ), so I'm just going to post a few pictures from our photopass cds that came today.

wow......i get busy and unable to check my TRs for a few days and i'm WAY behind. i'm just marking my place - i just got finished with your AK day!

sooooooooo funny about your tink underwear! :rotfl:

i love that you guys got your faces painted together. i hope you frame some of those pictures. by the way, i LOVE the gorillas too!

oh, how do you like those crocs you had on your AK day? i have been looking at the brown ones like that and i can't decide if they'd be comfy or not.

Aww I love your photo pass pics. I love that the shirts match to...so cute! I think that dh and I should do a few matching shirts when we go...whenever that may be. Its not so much the fact that we work for his dad b/c its not a family business and his dad wasn't the one that gave him the job. He actually was working in the office doing odds and ends and the president of the company at the time told matt about a job opening and we discussed it and decided it would be a good thing for him to do. I wouldn't go back on it in a million years. It was the right choice. And about 99 percent of the time he dosen't answer to his dad who is now the president b/c we work in the field...he answers to whats called the superintendent of the job, which is basically the boss of a field office job, which is what dh is. A field office manager. But I get what your saying and it can be annoying to have his dad as the president. At least we get to go home for thanksgiving, which is a good thing b/c I miss my family like crazy! Also I have to renew my license as well as change my last name on it, which hasn't done before now b/c you have to have your new soc card to get your license and I didn't get that till about a month ago. I'm still holding out hope we'll get to go, but who knows. What did you and your dh do for date night? That sounds fun. :) :goodvibes

I got quite a bit done all in one day, but I've slowed back down again. I'm going to try to get another update done tonight......Tony's and MNSSHP, after the little ones are in bed. It's kind of difficult to get things done when Addy is constantly trying to help me type :) .

To be honest with you, the crocs are just ok. I get a lot of compliments on them, but I did end up with a pretty bad blister that day. I ended up having to go to one of the first aid stops and get some bandaids. They are the only pair of crocs I've ever had, but I have a friend who swears by the flip flop ones. We used to do 3 and a half mile walks every night, and that's what she wore. The shoes are nice and lightweight though.

The matching shirts were actually a lot of fun, and we got lots of compliments one them from CMs as well as other visitors. DH has even asked me to make a couple for our trip.

I see that job situation is a lot different than DH's was. He worked directly for his parents (and his brother, but that's a whole other story!).

How far away is your family? We're lucky that both of our families are close by. It would be VERY hard for me to be away from my family.

We actually didn't do anything too exciting last night. Every week, my mom keeps the girls for the night one night. It gives DH and I a little time to be together and get caught up. Since he's gone for work quite a bit, we don't always get a lot of time together. Usually we go out for dinner, but last night we just stayed at home and enjoyed Gray's Anatomy......it's our favorite.

oh my goodness...anna looks ADORABLE as tink! i would love to do that! you think they'd let a 32-year-old do it? :rotfl: why didn't she get to pick something else besides tink? maybe i missed that part. i'm so glad she got the cute little bun instead of the thing that looks like a dead squirrel on her head! :rotfl2: and your DH getting his cool dude hair done was awesome!

No worries I like to sit and talk with dh and watch tv too. We also are fans of Greys Anatomy. I didn't get to watch it till tonight b/c dh goes to bed at nine (he gets up at like 4:30 b/c with it getting darker earlier now they changed start time to 5:30 instead of six thirty) or something like that. I forget exactly, but its almost a hour earlier than he has to be there. So we record it and most of the shows we watch and then will watch them the next day or whenever we have time. Right now we are about ten hours away from our family. We are living in Lynchburg, Va and they are living in toledo, ohio. When I lived in wi last winter...that was about 9ish hrs and when we living in northern va near d.c. earlier this year that was 8 hrs. I actually drove home over labor day to see them. It was so long...so I can't imagine driving with dh for 10, but at least we'll have each other b/c I drove home alone. Also we are driving half way tuesday before thanksgiving, but can't leave till later in the day b/c of work. Then we'll get there weds and do all the name changing junk with my license and our two banks and then it'll be family hang out time! I'm going to take some of my scrapbook stuff home and scrapbook with my sister b/c she does it too so thats exciting. And we can get some of our winter clothes that are in storage. I'm excited about that b/c all i've been wearing is hoodies and jeans and I know I have sweaters and dress pants in storage so I want that stuff. I think we're going to get our 4ft pre lit tree too so we can have that in our apartment. We're not allowed to have a real one sadly otherwise we would. Your lucky that your dh dosen't mind the matching shirts b/c I have read a lot of tr's where that is not the case and the dh will be the only one who isn't matching the group. Dh wouldn't mind b/c I've mentioned it to him before. Hes all over it...it just seems that I always forget to get on here and get some designs. Hope you had a good day...I wasn't feeling well...i had no appetite and something just felt off...I can't explain it, but a friend asked if i was preggo and I was like there is no chance. So I think its some sort of bug. I drank tons of fluids to try to flush it out of my system so heres hoping I get better quickly. :goodvibes

I was planning on doing it with her until I cut my hair, so I definitely think you could too! She knew she had to get Tink because it was the night of MNSSHP and we were all dressing up together. We did, however, also have the Jasmine, Belle, and Cinderella dresses for her too........those pictures are coming soon. I'm not a big fan of the hair piece thing either, but if she wants to do it next time, I'll let her because I promised her she could pick whichever one she wanted.

That would definitely be a long drive. I have lots of family in Kansas City, which is about 4 hours from us, and that's long enough to be in the car for me......especially with two little ones. My cousin and her husband live in Atlanta which is about 10 hours from here, and they used to drive home all the time. Now they have a little one though, so they've flown the last several times.

We had a pretty good day here......nothing too exciting. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know lots of things have been going around here. That's the hard part about Anna being in school. Until she started preschool last year, she was home with me or my mom (never in daycare or anything), so she was pretty healthy. Since she started school, she has gotten EVERYTHING!!! Then, of course, she brings it home and Addy catches it too :(.

I have to admit, this installment isn't going to have too many pictures. I didn't get any food pictures here because we kind of had a little distraction at the beginning, and that pretty much threw everything.

We had a 5:45 ADR here, and it was just about that time when we finished with Anna's photo session. We checked in, and they called us almost immediately. The problem..........I forgot that I had made the ADR for 3 thinking that my mom and Addy would have already gone back to the hotel :scared1: . Luckily, they were able to seat all of us at the table, but it was pretty snug, especially with the highchair.

I did take a few pictures before we were seated. We love Lady and the Tramp because it kind of reminds me of me and DH.

They brought out the bread and some oil to dip it in, and we ordered our appetizers. My mom had the tomato and mozzarella salad, which she really enjoyed. Adam had the calamari, and I had the minestrone, mostly so that I could share with Addy. Our's were both just ok, not great, but still edible. Anna had the carrot and celery sticks with ranch. She ate the carrots, and Adam ate the celery.

For our entrees, I had the spinach and ricotta gnocchi primavera. Now, I have to tell you that I'm not a very adventurous eater, but I really wanted to try something different here. This was wonderful!!! I did pick around the feta cheese, but the rest of it was just great. I was so glad that I ordered it.

Adam had shrimp scampi, but he said that the one he gets from the Olive Garden is better ;) .

My mom had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was a HUGE serving, and she shared quite a bit with Addy.....especially the meatballs. Anna had the kids portion of this too, and she really liked it. At first, she wasn't so sure about the meatball because when we have spaghetti at home I always just put ground beef in the sauce, but, once she tried it, she ended up eating the whole thing. I tried this, and it was pretty good.

Then, it was time for dessert. Adam and I decided to order two different things and share. He ordered the ice cream bomb, and I order the Chef's cheesecake, which was Cappucino that night. The ice cream bomb was ok, but the cheesecake was amazing. We ended up fighting over it. Anna had an ice cream sundae, and my mom had the spumoni which she got in trouble for feeding to Addy. We don't know yet if Addy inherited Adam's nut allergy, and the doctor's have told us to just keep her away from nuts until she's old enough to tell us if there's a problem.

Our server here was not so great, and, even though we had reminded him at the beginning of the meal that my mom was on a separate dining plan, didn't separate the checks. It took us a little while to get this fixed which was frustrating because DH, Anna, and I were ready to get to the Halloween party.

When we were done eating, mom and Addy headed back to the hotel. Adam and I had to change, so we went and grabbed our costumes out of the locker we had rented and went to change. Then we grabbed our bracelets, and we were ready to go :thumbsup2 .

She knew she had to get Tink because it was the night of MNSSHP and we were all dressing up together. We did, however, also have the Jasmine, Belle, and Cinderella dresses for her too........those pictures are coming soon. I'm not a big fan of the hair piece thing either, but if she wants to do it next time, I'll let her because I promised her she could pick whichever one she wanted.

oh, okay. now i understand! i agree that the kids should get to pick out the hair that they want, but what i don't understand is why they even offer those things. they're just so odd looking!

great dinner at tony's! i can't wait to hear about MNSSHP!

Oooo yay its almost party time. Hehe. I can't wait to hear about it! Sorry that you had a bit of a hard time at tony's. I hate it when people don't listen and do the exact opposite of what you want. its so frustrating! We ate lunch at tonys just as a walk in the first time we went to disney together back in 06' it was pretty good as I remember. We didn't eat there this past yr for whatever reason...just better choices out there I guess or we didn't think about it. Not to mention we went the week of Christmas so it was busy and hard to get in any places unless you had adr's, which we did so we were fine. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the party!

This was part of the trip that I had really been looking forward to..........Anna still sometimes feels like she doesn't get as much attention since Addy was born, and I knew this would be a great way for her to get some time alone with mom and dad. Plus, we all got to play dress up, which she loves! I'm going to tell this through my pictures, and then I'll add some photopass pictures in another post.

We decided we were going to rent a stroller for the evening because mom had to use ours to get Addy back to the hotel, and I knew that Anna would want one throughout the evening. Also, we were hoping that Anna might fall asleep in the stroller before the second parade so that DH and I could watch it. I knew the grave diggers and such would be a little much for her........she is really overly sensitive, especially when it comes to scary stuff. I have to say that we loved this stroller, and it was really easy to stear and push. It's really too bad they've gotten so expensive to rent because a double stroller would have been awesome for the two girls.

Anna decided that she wanted to see some characters, so we headed to Toontown. We went to Minnie's house first. Anna loved that you could sit on the furniture and explore the different rooms.

We did wait to see Minnie, and the line was pretty long........we probably waited about 45 minutes, and it was sprinkling on us this whole time, so that was a little unpleasant. Finally, it was our turn.

After we met Minnie, we went to Mickey's house. There was a really long line there too, and Anna decided that she didn't want to wait, so we just looked around the house a little. Anna was a little disappointed that you couldn't get into most of the rooms here like you could at Minnie's house.
DisneyWorld445.jpg

It was still raining off and on at this point, but we decided to check out the Wonderland treat trail. Alice and the Tweedles were being taken inside out of the rain, so we didn't see them. First we saw the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit. The Queen really liked Anna's autograph book.
DisneyWorld446.jpg

DisneyWorld447.jpg

DisneyWorld448.jpg

Next we saw the Mad Hatter, and, I've got to say, this guy was HILARIOUS! He was talking to Anna, and she just kept looking at me like, "Mom, what the heck is the matter with this guy?!?!?!" He was also pretty impressed with Anna's autograph book and commented on the fact that his outfit was different than the one in the picture.

After this, Anna decided that it was time for a ride, so we headed for Splash Mountain. I took a few pictures along the way.

DisneyWorld455.jpg

DisneyWorld456.jpg

DisneyWorld457.jpg

DisneyWorld458.jpg

We also did a little more trick or treating along the way. We rode Splash Mountain twice without waiting at all. The second time, it was really cool because you could see the Hallowishes fireworks while we were on the ride. Also, I have to say, Splash Mountain is much more interesting in the dark :) . When we got off, Anna wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain, but it was again closed for technical reasons.

We tried to see the Villian show because we were hoping to get a picture with Captain Hook, but the show that we were going to see was cancelled (maybe because of he rain, but I'm not sure).

Anna was getting pretty tired at this point, but she just couldn't fall asleep in the stroller. She really wanted to ride Peter Pan, especially since we were all in costume, but the wait was 45 minutes, and she didn't want to wait that long. It was still sprinkling and fairly cool, so we decided to head back to the hotel.

Overall, we had fun, and it was great to dress up together and do this. Also, it gave Anna a lot of good mommy and daddy time (as she calls it). However, I really didn't expect the lines for the characters to be so long, and we were really surprised about the line for the Peter Pan ride. We didn't really try many of the other rides because Anna was more interested in trick or treating, so I'm not sure what they were like. There were a few things that I had hoped to do at the party (mostly see Snow White and the Dwarfs), but I decided that it was more important to let Anna be in charge this night and just have fun.

great dinner at tony's! i can't wait to hear about MNSSHP!

I agree, those hair pieces are not very nice looking. We saw several girls walking around the park with them, and I just think the little bun looks so much nicer.

We did enjoy dinner at Tony's :).

We enjoyed Tony's, and I'd say there's a definite possibility that we'll eat there again sometime. I'd like to try it for lunch sometime because the menu is quite different.

Here are a few of the Photopass pictures from the party. I had a lot of fun putting all of the different borders on all of the pics :thumbsup2 .

Hi! I just found your report and I think it is great! So far it sounds like you guys had a great time and your DD's are soooooo cute! :cutie: I'm am so jealous there was no BBB when we were kids! I would have been in seventh Heaven! :cloud9: But I enjoyed living vicariously through your photos! And you guys looked fabulous for MNSSHP! It's so much fun! I can't wait to see the rest!:thumbsup2

aww I love that you guys dressed up together how adorable! The pics are awesome! Sorry you had some rain, but at least you got to have some fun and it didn't ruin the whole experience all together. :thumbsup2

Who was your server at Tony's? Was it Josh? :rotfl2: Did you pay for the stroller? Strollers are free during the parties. I don't know if they tell people this but Joy always gets one and you have to show your party ticket but there's no charge. :scared1: Yikes! A 45 minute wait for Minnie? OMG! Look at you guys though! You are soooo cute! :lovestruc Love love love the costumes! The picture of you three in front of the castle is da bomb! :thumbsup2
