At least I don't think it's been asked before and it popped in my head last night so I'm askin' it:

How self sufficient is WDW?

What I mean is how much work is done by Disney itself?

Does Disney have it's own contracting firm for ride and building construction or do they hire outside firms?

With the recent hurricanes, does Disney have it's own large scale maintenance crews? Stuff like that.

Also food, do they have a contracted company to oversee the food service or is it all manged through Disney?

Just me and my weird questions.

Most of the construction work is contracted out. We learned this on the backstage magic tour we took in August.
Yes, they have full scale maintance crews that are at work every night.

There are so many different places to eat... some are other companies... and as far as I know... disney doesn't have their own cattle ranch, wheat fields or corn fields... but you never know!!!
