A new Hotel Suggestion

I think Disney needs a pet friendly hotel. They don't have a full service kennel on site. I think a hotel that let's people keep their dogs or cats with them in the room and a kennel that will let your pet out every 2 or three hours while families are in the parks would be great. I don't know what I would do if my sister weren't willing to take my bichon into her home when we go to the Yacht Club this December. Of course I take her standard poodle when she goes on vacations. I'd be willing to pay extra to have my dog with me for even part of the time.

Opinions????

I agree! I'm currently planning a trip with my parents for November of this year. We currently have ressies for two rooms at AsMo. They have a very old Schnauzer that they'll have to take with them (if he's still alive) and that means they'll need to stay off-site somewhere. It's a real bummer because my Mom really would like to stay on-site.

Great idea! IMHO

That's a fabulous idea! My mom and her husband are AKC judges and travel with their dogs all the time. It can be difficult for them to find decent hotels. You should definitely suggest to the Powers That Be at Disney. Imagine a pet-friendly hotel with a lovely dog park as part of the grounds. "Dog" rooms could be on the ground level with a sliding door leading to their own private yards. "Cat" rooms could be up higher, and the rooms would have kitty trees and catwalks and deluxe litter boxes! It could be great! They could theme it on "Lady and the Tramp" and "The Aristocats."

Great idea! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

What happened to the kennels? Did they do away with them? There used to be a kennel located near TTC and Poly. You could go over and visit your pet anytime.

That is a horrible idea. There will be pet doo doo all over the grounds not to mention in the rooms. I love my cat but just like parents wanting a night out without their children I want a vacation without my pet. I have someone come to the house and feed he, change her little box and play with her. if that couldnt be arranged I would put her in a kennel at the vets. Eeeeeeeeew, I don't want to have to watch where I walk in DW.

I'd like to be able to take my dog with me sometimes. We have a pet sitter, but he has a life too and can't always take care of our dog when we need him. We can take our dog to FW, but since we have a pop-up instead of a hard sided camper, he'd have to be kenneled during the day, and that would make things even harder, since we'd have to drive there and visit the kennel during the day instead of just our campsite.

If this were ever to happen, it wouldn't be disgusting. First of all, it would be a block of rooms that were pet-friendly so that people with allergies wouldn't end up in a pet room. And there wouldn't be poo all over the place. I walk my dog all the time and clean up for him. I do the same when we travel. Not everyone has to take their pets with them, but there are some of us who enjoy taking care of our pets all the time and who would relax better if we knew our pets were happy while we were vacationing.

Gail,
That's why I suggested a pet friendly hotel. People who didn't want to be around other people's pets could stay at a different hotel. The animals wouldn't be allowed in the parks, just in the area of the hotel. That's why it needs to be a new hotel. I wouldn't want to take away someone's favorite.

And the problem with the current kennels, is the staff does not let the animals out. Owners are responsible for pet walking. When you have a small breed, that has to be more often, so you have to leave the park every 3 hours or so to take care of your animal.

Can't you just see it. The Pongo building, Perdita Suite. The Lady and the Tramp Pool. And the Aristocats Cafe.

Ok chirurgeon, I got your point, I interpeted it wrong the first time. As long as it is a seperate hotel for owners and there pets I guess you are right. But to be honest I CAN'T see Disney doing that
:)

FOR ONCE I AGREE WITH SOMEONE!:p
I think Disney has enough domestic animal themed movies to justify a new hotel. How about, "All Star Pets" Lady & the Tramp, 101 Dalmations, any of those. It could be advertised as accepting pets, who are cared for at a kennel during the day, with bringing them to the room each night is optional. It couldn't hurt, and if you didn't want to bring your pet, there's not law saying you have to.

As someone whose child has severe allergies, it's not a place I would go anywhere near, but... it does sound like the kind of idea that would be popular with pet owners.

Somehow, though, I think, it would be an expensive resort to operate, (I'm sure most people would agree that pets are hard on furnishings, carpeting, etc., and despite the fact that I'm sure all DISers pick up their petpoo, not everyone else does, so there would be extra expense in that area too. If you were willing to pay, say, 50 or 100 bucks a night more than a comparable-level pet-free resort, it might be a profitable place!

They have not opened as yet, but why can't ONE of the Buildings be a "Bring your Pet" building! They have a SMOKING building at ALL the other resorts! Why can't they have 1 building for people who Bring thier Pets? Just charge 20.00 MORE for this building, but, also, have an area where they CAN go Poop!:D Also, maybe they can have you bring your own bed supplies, and furnish some Fabreeze, for odor?

I can not understand why someone would bring their pet with them on vacation (especially WDW).

Some people like to bring their pets with them on vacation.

First, for those who aren't crazy about a "pet friendly" resort, there are numerous other resorts to choose from. Second, most people do pick-up after their animals and Disney could designate a certain area for doggy doo-doo. Third, knowing Disney, they would keep the doo-doo area extremely clean.
