Our DD just turned 7 about a month ago. Our first WDW trip was when she was 4 - and we have been 6 times (7th in about 3 weeks). Our DS will turn 5 on the day after we return from our next trip. I can still remember almost every detail about each trip. I remember how excited both of them got (actually - DS more than DD) while waiting in line for the princesses. I remember the first couple of trips stressing out about making sure the condos had child-proof outlet covers. I remember having to go back to the condo / hotel every day for the required naps.
On the last trip - the DS was indifferent about the princesses, and actually had a bit of a teen-age boy attitude going on with the fairies (but I think that's because he thought the red haired one was hot - which is absolutely right
) Since the last trip, DD has gone from sweet princess-loving little girl to (somewhat) mouthy HS Musical afficionado. Life changes. It's going so fast. I know we'll have a great time on this, and all subsequent, Disney trips. I just miss the way it started.

I told them that it was fun to believe they are real and I believed. DD still holds out hope that the face characters are real (princesses) and she can't wait to meet Tink (she has loved her since birth!) Talk of the characters not being real isn't allowed in the house anymore (ha!) and it is no longer discussed- I think they're 'getting' the fact that it is fun to believe in the magic even though you really 'know'. This will be an interesting trip. They want to do all the big rides the most, but DD still wants to eat with the princesses (thank goodness!), ride everything else, and see the characters. It will be fun- just in a different way. Yes, it goes waaaayyyy to fast!!! That being said, last year my kids both acted like little kids again- they forgot they were 'cool' for a week. I look forward to my kids acting like 'kids' again- loosing their 'coolness' when they get there and letting loose with it all. Plus, they can stay up late without having to be carried to the buses and being whiny. We're excited!!!!
