I do not speak to my Mom often, so it has been a while since I've heard from her. She lives in Fort Collins. Hopefully, she is okay. My cousins, who live in Greeley, say that the air there is very difficult to breathe. Thus far, they have not been evacuated.

I can't imagine what it would be like to worry as they are!

And I would imagine the smokey smell will stick around for a long time.

Prayers again!

Thanks again. If I do not hear from my Mom soon, I may call her. Everytime I call her, the last number I had is disconnected. I never change my phone numbers, so she can always get in touch if she is up for it. My Dad actually changed his number two days before we left for Disneyland. It was hard not having his number after I dropped my phone in the toilet. I call him all the time, so it was weird not being able to pick up the phone and call him.

We are among the lucky few in our neighborhood and county to have electricity. When the derucho came through on Friday evening we lost electricity for 7 hours which is pretty typical since we have power lines among old trees but interestingly enough the big planned community nearby with all underground lines also lost power for the first time in at least 20 years! That plus 90 - 100 degree heat is not pleasant......

Since we had electricity, I went out yesterday morning intending to do my Saturday errands but 90% of the county traffic lights were out, stores closed etc. I did manage to buy shoes I desperately needed way up county but driving home took forever. There were lots of downed trees and bored people out driving looking for food and something to do!

It is so rare for our neighborhood of scattered homes on multi-acre lots to have power while the big suburban communities around us don't!

And normally I would have been spending the week at Boy Scout camp with my son's former troop but their camp 4 hours away sustained damage and is closed this week too so I'm glad I had decided last winter to forgo my favorite camping with them!

So between the Colorado fires, Florida flooding and the terrible derucho damage swath from Ohio eastward it has been quite a horrendous past few days!

Stay safe everyone!

BUMP!

I will add your neighborhood to my prayers Kathy. My Mom has not returned my call.

Yikes! it has been horrible weather for so many people

Here in NJ one county cannot dirink their water and at the shore there are many without power and lots of damage.. Wow bad weather week.
