A naive question about FP+ angst

Like the "I hate FP+" crowd has added anything new in the past 7 months. My favorites are the one who have never even used it.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I also love the "I am never going to WDW again" posts.

You could not hold up to 8 FPs when they were enforcing return times. That is an absolute untruth. To have 8 you had to have hoarded FPs. So even before FP+, you were being limited on FPs.

I don't think the poster was referring to holding 8 at one time...I could be wrong, but that's not how I read the post.

I read the post as saying you could get 8 throughout the course of the day. And that you could, and was quite easily done - especially during busy seasons when the parks are open from 8am-12am.

How about the ones that run others down, shove them out of the way and step on them to beat them to the kiosks?

I'm sorry if you experienced that. We never did. And we do rope drop almost every single day we are at Disney.

Nope, never did and we were at rope drop every day we went too. ;)

Where is that sarcasm font when ya need?? :confused3

:lmao: I don't know how I missed that thread the first time around! You are quite the songwriter.

I have a request for a FP+ version of It's the End of the World as We Know It by REM. ;)

I'm not just another pretty face/bitter legacy FP superuser. I have mad skillz. (Actually that song practically wrote itself--the OP's story had me laughing for days.)

This means no fear, cavalier, renegade and steering clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives, and I decline

How many times did you need to see Mickey in a single day?

As many times as she wanted! Why so much hate and discontent for those of us who knew how to use the system (properly, legally, and fairly) to it's full potential?:confused3 As I have stated before, we pulled an average of 8-10 FPs a day on our trip just last June. Always returning within the return time window. Explain how I was "abusing" the system. Just because YOU couldn't figure it out, nobody else should be able to either? What's it to you if I want to ride Splash 5 times in a row? I just don't get the attitude that if YOU only wanted to experience any given ride only once then that should be good enough for everyone else. Go ahead, flame away.

If one person rides Splash 5 times in a row, then another person may not get to FP Splash at all. And of course Standby people have to wait for all FP users, so if they aren't able to use FP effectively for whatever reason, then again the repeat user is costing them.

I think saying that people using multiple FPs for one ride were "abusing" the system is a bit much, but OTOH it's obvious why people didn't like it. If enough people were pulling multi FPs, that was having a direct impact on their ability to get an FP for those rides and on the standby times. When people think you're doing something that hurts them, of course they're going to take it personally, whether you're breaking rules or not. That doesn't justify anyone flaming the efficient FP users, obviously, but you're not going to convince them it's none of their business, either. ;)

I truly am not trying to convince anyone of anything other than the fact that we did not "abuse" FP-. They had just as much opportunity to pull another FP as I did. How did I prevent anyone else from doing so? Believe it or not, I'm not trying to be snarky. I just haven't received any definitive answers when I ask the question of how we have "abused" FP-. I don't believe FP+ will make this process any more fair. One will still have to do a modicum of planning to understand in extreme basic as to what this system is. People didn't do that before, why do we think they'll do it now?

I suspect you're wrong there. If a CM saw an unhappy guest with the FP- system who complained about the lines, they might be able to explain that FPs are free but they couldn't easily explain the system or show the guest how to use it. As you say, the guest had to do their homework.

With FP+, however, if the CM sees that someone is not using the FP system, all they have to do is send them to a kiosk, and the CM there can set them up with FPs for that day and for the rest of the trip. I believe that Disney will keep back a percentage of FPs even after opening every day precisely for CMs working with guests who aren't using the system and who may not even realize it exists.

Disney expected people to understand the FP- system, and they encouraged them to use the FP- system, but people still thought you had to pay for it or weren't sure what rides had it or struggled to find the machines or came too late to pull FPs or just couldn't cope with the required extra walking and planning. FP- favored the visitor who was a planner. FP+ will, too, because planning always makes a trip go smoother, however it doesn't give the planner nearly so much of an edge.

Now, the non-planner has a good chance of using FPs. And that, I'll bet, was partly why Disney is doing it. Because most people, and especially most vacationers, aren't planners. :upsidedow
