Nobody warned me about trying to figure out how to get 10 pounds of candy home on the plane! :p I know, a good problem to have! Between that and the souvenirs, we ended up with heavier bags than what we came with!

OMG, this happened to us two years ago. When we went to check in our luggage we were overweight by a lb or two on each bag. I had to try and adjust the bags with things in the carry ons so we wouldn't have to pay the extra fee. Just an insane nightmare at the time. Last year, I just made everyone eat more candy before we left:rotfl:

We solved that problem yesterday by taking the candy in our carry on bags. No problem at all.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of candy is it? When I think of Halloween candy I think of a bunch of stuff that nobody really enjoys anyway and winds up getting thrown out. Maybe MNSSHP is different. :confused3

At any rate, I get to find out next week! :cheer2:

Easy to fix- use carry-ons, eat some, or you can leabe some for the maid like we do sometimes!pirate:

I think the candy is a mix... some really good stuff, some so-so stuff, and some I just toss. I found most of the candy to be really good.

the kids get THAT much candy? oh my. i better pack an extra(empty) carry on for our trip . We head there tomorrow :)

DW and I went home with 3 ziploc gallon bags of candy from the parties. That's not including the gallon bag we left in our room.

We packed accordingly this time, learned from 2010. Brought and extra backpack.

this is our first time at Disney in 10 years. The last time we went we had one child and she was 3. We now have a 13 yr old and two 8-year olds. So, it's like the first time all over again. MNSSHP is new for us. Never done it. Heard about it thru friends though.

Now adding ziploc bags to my packing list today.

Just starting posting here today. Wish I'd checked here sooner. I bet there are tons of tips here for us!

We brought ziplock bags and put the candy in our suitcases! We're a family of five, but my husband did not collect candy. We brought home four gallon ziplock bags of candy, and we only stopped at each treat station/trail once.

In response to the question regarding the selection of candy:

The Candy. One other note regarding candy. I had read very different reports about the candy available. Now, we understand that we can go to the store and buy all that stuff, but trick-or-treating in MK was a really fun experience and we're glad we spent our time that way. Our oldest son made a list of all the different kinds of candy we received: milky way, twix, snickers, milk duds, m&ms, smarties, nerds, tootsie rolls, now & later, three musketeers, skittles, baby ruth, heath, whoppers, fruit snacks, starburst, butterfinger, reese's cups, werther's caramel hard candy, lemon heads, nestle crunch, raisins, candy corn, almond joy, tootsie pops, peeps, peanut chews, peanut m&ms, and kit kat. No complaints from our boys!

do they supply treat bags for the candy, or do we bring our own?

They supply treat bags, but they have two handles and are open on top. For our three boys, I thought that would easily translate into spilled candy! So I ordered personalized cinch bags from etsy for each of our boys. They loved the bags, they didn't mix them up because they were personalized, nothing fell out, and they could easily carry their own bags on their backs! And they used them in all the parks to tote their own stuff for the entire trip. Yay!

fantastic idea! if only I'd asked NOT the day before we leave.

thankyou! I am kicking myself for not checking this place out way earlier. GUess I will be up late tonight searching for last minute strategies. Been to WDW 3 times before, all 3 times were short visits(like this one. we are staying 4 whole days), and we never planned ahead, we just went.
THis is the first one I am kind of planning, but compared to what I see here, I am so not ready for it all!

We aren't even there yet and I am already talking about the next time we go. :)

I just have to say this. Many say why bother trick or treating when you can just buy a bag of candy. Have you seen how much a bag of candy goes for at wal-mart now? :scared1: A 4 lb bag is like $15. My DW and I easily brought home 10lbs + of candy during the party and that's not including what we left in our room. So looking at it, probably $45+ worth of candy was collected. We're talking one admission tickets worth.

Keep what you want and give away the rest to trick or treaters, at least you can save a little $$$ in that respect. ;)

Yeah, reading this thread I am thinking that I will plan to take an extra carry-on, some Ziploc bags, and let Disney supply my station at my church's trunk-n-treat, which is two nights after we get back home. :lmao:

Haha!!:rotfl2: Same thing happened to us! I even left a ton of candy at our hotel! (Stuff no one liked) The baggage guy was like, "Your bag is over a few pounds. Can you move some stuff to another?" We had to redistribute right there on the curb.

We left 9 beers in the fridge, we weren't going to leave our candy too! I think some of our chocolate didn't fair too well in the trunk of the car while we went to AK today...
