Okay, here's the scenario.....I, stupidly, left our dinner of 3 boneless pork chops, in the wrapper, on the counter to defrost. Took dd to swim lessons. Dh was home doing yard work. Came home, and there is a very hairy, chewed upon pork chop sitting in the middle of my family room floor!!! Yuck!!! And another one in the original package. Well.....so where is the third one?? Is a cat capeable of eating an entire pork chop?? If so, will it hurt him?? We can't find the missing chop anywhere in the house. Even let the dog in so that he could nose around and find it. Nothing!!! The cat is no longer called Bootsie. ... he's Pork Chop!!!
Any thoughts on the illness factor here, other than an upset tummy? He did look a little 'green' around the gills, so to speak last night.

Yes, cats are meat eaters and it is possible he ate the whole thing. He'll probably puke a lot and maybe have the runs.

I would imagine that your cat did eat it... and yes they do eat meat. I would be more concerned about if there were bones or not than anything else. My cats seem to be able to pick out 'bad' meat quicker than I would... they always are my 'test' for deli meats when I am not sure they are bad or not. He may be sick, but I would just watch her for a day or so just to see. I find cats are on average "smart" with the food they eat.

OMG. I'm ROFL because our cat has done this the last couple of times I've taken pork out to thaw as well. First time it was pork tenderloins and the second time it was pork roast. There must be something about pork.

The tenderloins were in a thick plastic covering and she got it open enough to get one bite out of it but the roast was in a butcher wrapper and she got it opened (in several places I might add) and ate a really good portion of the meat

We were freaking. DD was like - I ain't eating that now. But since it was only a little bit and not a whole pork chop or something (that just cracks me up) I cut off where she had eaten.

So I was also wondering about the digestive part. She never got sick. And she begged for more AFTER it was cooked!!!!

Thanks guys. Yep, I know they are true meat eaters. Just wasn't too sure how much they could handle at one time!! He seems okay now. Have to say he hasn't been spending too much time at the kibble bowl!!!!

Don't know about cats, but my dog ate an entire steak last night. He seemed like he had a little tummy ache afterwards but today his, ahem, "business" was healthy and he was his usual bouncy self.

Any time I forget to put left-over cooked meat in the fridge after dinner, my cat will eat through the plastic and it's gone the next morning! I have learned (the hard way) to thaw meat by placing it in the microwave. He sure sleeps a lot (more) when he's had one of his feasts!

Hopefully he didn't hide it somewhere for you to find later - sniff, sniff!!;)

I had to laugh at this! I have had to put food related items in my microwave, too, so my cat won't get into them. He's got a real sweet tooth, and I think he'd chew through cardboard to get to a Krispy Kreme donut.
