A Mishap a Day Keeps Disaster Away! August 2011 TR

Finally got pics to work! That's us in the rain sometime between 11 and 1 on the 25th! The rain didn't bother us at the time, but remember the flip flop comment in my opening post? This is the day we later learned that wet running shoes are NOT fun! But that's not even the mishap of the day! There's an even better story coming soon!
PS. The funny lines on the pictures are from something going on between my computer and photobucket. The Disney Photopass pics are perfect on the CD they sent us! I highly recommend Photopass. Very happy with what we got for $100!

Those lines are strange. Files can get corrupted while up/downloading from place to place though. As long as they're not on your original files, I don't even notice them here!
You have such a beautiful family! You guys all look so happy, even in the rain. And I agree with the flip flop thing, they just dry so quick!
Sounds like a great day so far!

I can't believe I almost forgot to write about the Tinkerbell meeting cast members. They were sooo amazing! This is a great Disney story!

One of the only things DD said she really wanted to do was meet Tinkerbell. She knew we were doing the princess dinner at Akershus and so she didn't ask to line up for Ariel or anyone else but she is more into the Disney Fairies than the Disney Princesses these days. Funny how they grow up so fast!

So when we found out that Tinkerbell and Rosetta were there (can't remember the building but it was somewhere in the Adventureland/Frontierland area) we made a quick plan. DS didn't want to wait in the long line for Tink but was sad that he missed PotC (because he chose Alladdin instead when DD chose PotC earlier) so as I rushed into the Tinkerbell line with DD I told DH to take DS to PotC and meet back where we were. I took a deep breath in line and looked at the excited eyes of my eager and super happy DD and thought, this is great! She was so thrilled to be in line for Tink and it was our first character meeting. Then it hit me - the autograph books we made (mini scrapbooks) were in DH's backpack!!! He was gone! I tried texting him but he didn't get it till they were off the ride. By this point, we had already met Tinkerbell. The meeting was magical but I was so sick and sad that we didn't get signatures at our first character meeting!

BUT - DH, having received the text, went straight to the CMs managing the fairy line and told them the story (he thought we might still be in line but we were waiting at the meeting spot). One of the CMs took the autograph books (even DS's!) and got signatures for the kids so we wouldn't have to wait in line again (which we wouldn't have done). I thought it was so nice of him to do that! So now DD has a beautiful scrapbook page with a picture of her and Rosetta and a picture of her and Tinkerbell with their signatures right beside. She's so proud and we're so thankful to the wonderful CM!

Here are the pics of the Fairy Meeting. One of my favourite memories of the whole trip!

The wet shoes and the forgotten scrapbooks...neither is considered to be the mishap of the day. I'm not sure if I'll have time to get to it in this post either. But here's a bit more of our MK day...

After Splash Mountain, which was right after we reunited after Tinkerbell, we were starving! I saw Pecos Bill's and knew that it would be a good QS spot thanks to you lovely Disers! It was great! And the tips on here about going straight upstairs were great too. Lots of empty tables up there but sooo crowded on main floor! We enjoyed our lunch but DD was having serious foot issues. Her poor little toes were all wrinkly and blistery from being stuck in wet shoes and socks. DS was ok, luckily. So as we sat at the table I put 15 bandaids on DDs feet and we made a plan. By this time it was already 2 pm! Yikes! We had a 5:05 ADR at Whispering Canyon cafe! The kids really wanted to go on Space Mountain again but it made sense to do that on our way out of the park to the monorails. We had spent the entire first part of our day and hadn't even left Frontierland/Adventureland!

We agreed upon, then did, the following:
DD, DS and I - head to Swiss Family Treehouse (kids' must do, they heard about it from their grandma, who loves it!), then It's a Small World (another one of their must-dos. We got lost in Liberty Square on the way to Fantasyland, though. But eventually found it!) The kids loved IASW!!!

DH - head to SM for fast passes then check out Carousel of Progress (he said it was just ok - but at least he was out of the rain for a bit after being soaked walking all the way to Tomorrowland!)

We met back up in Fantasyland and it was already 3!! I knew by this point we would never get a decent spot for the parade but the kids didn't seem to mind. We actually stood next to the castle in Fantasyland and got a view of the floats from afar. We could hear the music too, and we all agreed it was a good way to get a taste of the parade without the fuss of the crowds. There was NO ONE near us!

We didn't stay there long though because there was so much else to do in Fantasyland and we were effectively out of time. So we did the carousel (DS's fave!) and Mickey's Philharmagic (LOVED IT!!!!) then rocketed through space one last time before leaving MK for the day. It was up in the air whether or not we would go back after dinner.

Turned out to be not! More on that later!

Awww, beautiful pictures with the fairies! And what a great CM to get the autographs for you guys. Gotta love that Disney magic.
I can't even imagine the poor wrinkled toes in wet socks! I have always done the flip flops so I have never been caught with socks in the rain.
I can't believe neither of those was the mishap of the day! What's coming up!? hahaha

joining in! that was a good idea your dh had to talk to the cm about the autographs. we left our books with other parents a couple of times and never thought to do that.

Joining in! That's so sweet that you were able to get Tink's autograph thanks to a great CM! :goodvibes
Can't wait to hear about Whispering Canyon. Such a fun dinner!
