A message that bears repeating

No, he really isn't that attractive, IMO. But his wife must find some redeeming quality about him.

Sorry, I don't feel comfortable posting his picture. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me, so even though he doesn't deserve the courtesy, I won't post his picture. I'm sure if you search for it, a picture is out there somewhere (ie Facebook). ;)

I don't have Facebook. So I will have to wait till this afternoon when my sons girlfriend comes over and ask her to pull it up.

"Given this country's present epidemic of obesity and the many truly horrible diseases related thereto, and considering Jennifer Livingston's fortuitous position in the community, I hope she will finally take advantage of a rare and golden opportunity to influence the health and psychological well-being of Coulee Region children by transforming herself for all of her viewers to see over the next year, and, to that end, I would be absolutely pleased to offer Jennifer any advice or support she would be willing to accept."
-Kenneth W. Krause

Sigh... the man has no idea the world of hurt he's let himself into with this response. A simple dignified apology - ideally during an on-air meeting with Jennifer - and everything would have blown over. When offence has been given, intentionally OR unintentionally, amends must be made.

If he's the same Kenneth W. Krause who writes for the Sceptic and the Humanist, I have some respect for his views in other areas. I particularly liked his article on gay marriage. (http://www.thehumanist.com/humanist/11_jan_feb/Krause.html) And if he's NOT the same Kenneth W. Krause who writes thoughtful and interesting articles... oh dear. Some innocent author somewhere is likely to get hit hard.

So, people are complicated creatures and no one's ever just a villain or a bully. Sadly for Mr. Krause, he is only compounding matters by not only refusing to admit wrong, but now de facto claiming credit for giving Jennifer "a rare and golden opportunity" to do exactly what he told her to do in the first place. Yikes! That's an extra-special level of social tone deafness.

I'm afraid Mr. Krause is about to learn an especially painful lesson about the power and reach of social media.

So he wants her to change her image to please him and others? That would be setting a WORSE example for kids. Hey kids, if someone doesn't like you for who you are, change until they do like you.

Yes, it's the same guy.

Regarding the bolded, I think you said it perfectly. :thumbsup2

Actually, I've been looking. It's not that easy to find. There's no Facebook photo, and no way to know if that page belongs to THE Kenneth W. Krause anyway. I did find an obituary for a deceased "Kenneth W. Krause" who died in his 80's - seemed like a lovely man. There's an author named Kenneth W. Krause who writes for the Skeptic and the Humanist. Might be him, might not. And see these pictures on the right of the page: http://radaris.com/p/Ken/Krause/ ? These men are ALL Ken Krause.

I think I've hit the limits of my interest. Other more skilled internet sleuths are surely hard at work at this moment anyway.

Oh lord. This dude has the same name as my guy. :rotfl

They couldn't be more different. Mine is caring and accepting of everyone. This one is apparently a pretentious windbag who only wants you around if you're a perfect size 6. :rotfl2:

It seems he is no longer on Facebook. :lmao:

He's the same guy that wrote the articles you referred to earlier. It seems he's well-known for being an obnoxious twerp.

To be fair, he didn't tell her she should changed so people will like her. He told her she should change to promote a healthy lifestyle and influence kids to do the same.

He told her to change because he doesn't like the way she looks now, is what it boils down to.

Okay, that's good to know! I'm glad it's not just some random guy who happens to share the same name.

The issue of social tone-deafness hits close to home for me... stories like this really make me fear that some day my own mother will say or do something that catches the attention of the blogosphere, and the next thing you know she'll be in exactly this position. She's one of those terribly intelligent, accomplished academics, who somehow always manages to say exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time, and then wonders why everyone's pissed off at her. :crazy2:

That may be what it boils down to, in your opinion, but that doesn't change the fact that he didn't tell her to change so people will like her.

I think he should be looking to hire a personal injury lawyer himself....for his career.I think he may need it. LOl!!!!!!! Love it when karma comes knocking!

If she doesn't send clueless emails to any media outlet, she should be ok. :p

It really is amazing at how some are attacked for being overweight, a condition for many to treat that is often more involving than simply exercise more, and eat less. Nice video. Glad the reporter stuck up for her self.

The reporters video reminded me of the NJ governor and the attacks from some in the press and entertainment industry that he has taken for his weight. The governor has given interviews where he mentions he has hired a workout trainer, watches what he eats, but like many has a difficult time dropping the pounds.

This story is Fantastic!! Good for her for sticking up for herself and good for the news station to support her in doing so.

I think it's very easy to be a critic on the Internet. You've got a keyboard to hide behind. I also think that those people are cowards.
