A message that bears repeating

No, you're inferring this was my meaning.

Yes I am, which is what I asked you that question. I thought that was fairly obvious :confused3
You chose to go on the defensive instead of clarify. That is your issue, not mine.

Smitch... you think this email to the newscaster was sent because the arrogant attorney was concerned???:rolleyes2

I thought it was fairly obvious that the question was offensive which is why I didn't answer it.

:rotfl: You dont know me and you don't know what issues I've had in my life.
I do know that she went on tv to boo hoo about an ugly email. The tv stations around the country would be filled with Dis members who feel slighted by other's posts and that's just this board if we all ran to get sympathy. She came across as totally feeling sorry for herself and wanted others to feel sorry for her as well.

And you do not know this woman or what issues she has had in her life. Nor do you know what healthy habits she has.

I didn't hear anything that said she felt sorry for herself. She seemed more touched by the support she got from the community than she did upset by the idiotic email.

Look at Queen Latifah (sp?). IMO, she is a great role model for being a strong, successful woman and looking different than all the other successful singers and actresses. She has done weight loss programs, but she was a great role model before that. The same could be said for this newscaster.

There are a million ways to be a role model to young girls and one of the most important is to show that any one of them CAN be successful even if they don't look just like society assumes they should.

I didn't see her as boohooing, I saw her as addressing a cowardly jerk. Someone that wouldn't have the brass to say it to her face, but has all the nerve in the world to address someone thru an email.

What she said was spot on. You need to stand up to creeps in the world that just have to get that dig in under the guise of pretending they give a crap.

Good for her, and a great message to kids, you don't have to take it to heart. Just dump it in the trash. :thumbsup2

Good for her. They showed a clip of this on Eyewitness new this morning and Jennifer and her husband will be on Good Morning America too.

Yes, Jennifer's video has gone viral.

Here is the guy's response to all the attention Jennifer has been receiving.

"Given this country's present epidemic of obesity and the many truly horrible diseases related thereto, and considering Jennifer Livingston's fortuitous position in the community, I hope she will finally take advantage of a rare and golden opportunity to influence the health and psychological well-being of Coulee Region children by transforming herself for all of her viewers to see over the next year, and, to that end, I would be absolutely pleased to offer Jennifer any advice or support she would be willing to accept."
-Kenneth W. Krause

Yeah, he sounds like a peach, doesn't he?

PS ~ He's a personal injury lawyer.

I questioned you because of what you said in your posts, its pretty telling that you are offended by that.

This Kenneth person must be looking for his 15 minutes of "fame" (NOT) now.

As someone who has struggled with depression, weight gain, and subsequent loss, I see her as obese. She really ought to lose weight. The attorney shouldn't have sent the email, and her husband shouldn't have put it on FB. To do a soft news bit/editorial on it only brought attention to the fact she is fat and some people are insensitive to fat people. Duh, to both facts.

To me, and again, I can sympathize (having gone from a size 16 to a size 8 in 2 years while struggling with despression), I would not have made such an issue over someone saying I was obese. It is a fact, not an opinion, and I personally really *HATED* being fat. I felt awful and am so happy to have turned my life around. And no, I didn't have any health problems (good BP, cholesterol, etc.) that pushed me to lose weight. I just couldn't fathom shoppping in a plus size store for clothes - it literally made me break down in tears. This isn't a bash on fat people, although some will certainly see it as such, but this is what I honestly thought and felt and what motivated me.

I need a picture of this A@@, because he must certainly be an adonis.

He wants to give her advice, what a jerk.

What a presumptuous creep.

:crazy2:

As for the video, it's starting to pop up on my Facebook newsfeed from some of my friends, so yeah it's getting around. :thumbsup2

I Just watched Jennifer and her husband on GMA.

They are a beautiful couple.

She is trying to lose weight, the girl has a thyroid condition and appears to have also had a child recently(they showed her girls).

Mr. Krause, YOU ARE A DOG!!!!

I should have watched that, but I'll try to catch a clip.

No, he really isn't that attractive, IMO. But his wife must find some redeeming quality about him.

Sorry, I don't feel comfortable posting his picture. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me, so even though he doesn't deserve the courtesy, I won't post his picture. I'm sure if you search for it, a picture is out there somewhere (ie Facebook). ;)

I think the guy is a total jerk. Such an email is totally uncalled for and unnecessary.

People need to stop blaming their weight on thyroid problems. I can't stand that. The thyroid has become the thing to blame ever since Oprah did.
