A Memory Maker Review

We did PhotoPass last time, and don't think we'll do MM this time. It's only two of us, and as another person said, there are only so many ways to pose with a small group! And the photographers are very willing to use your camera/phone.

Another thing I'd add is that last trip, we were trying to get a selfie (before the days of selfie sticks--don't worry, we wouldn't do that to you all! LOL!) and a couple came over and said they'd take one of us if we'd take one of them. Agreed! After that, it was like a light went on. We saw couples, we said we'd take their photo if they'd do ours. Then we asked families where the mom/dad was trying to take a photo--hey, get in the pic with your family, then take one of us! We found every person we approached was glad to do so, in fact, very happy about it. We totally plan on doing that this time.

Your most recent MM experience looks about like what we've gotten from PhotoPass and PhotoPass+ our last 4 visits. We have some fantastic shots, and lots that are just fine. I really don't see it as much of a change in quality over the years.

Like you said, if you want some great photos, make sure you get a lot of them taken. (whether with MM or with your own camera)

What HAS changed is the price. After four years of paying for the service, $170 prepaid is getting very steep. I think we might use our own camera this year. The only thing I'll really miss are the ride videos. If we like one or two ride photos a lot, we'll just buy them on the spot.

We do this all the time when we go to NYC, especially because foreigners don't tend to ask strangers to take their photos and everyone is SO appreciative when we do it. The most value we get from the MM are the character meets but I think that in the future I could just take the pictures for the few characters that are important for my daughter to meet.

Dan, If you go mostly for the ride photos then consider getting the Attractions+ package. It's $44.95 and includes ride photos only, but alas no video :P

For the ride photos/videos, is it important/easier to have Magic Bands? We are staying at the Swan & Dolphin for a conference so we won't get free Magic Bands. I'm trying to decide if they are a worthwhile purchase.

Thanks!
