a man working at Victoria's Secret?

If you think about it a man is really going to be into that job and will give you an honest opinion of what looks best. But I'll just stick to picking them out myself thank you.

It sounds like "someone" sued VS and won!;)

I remember when I went looking for a strapless bra for my wedding, I had a hard time finding one to fit me (back then I was a size 32B). I was able to find one at a bridal shop, the lady helping me insisted on seeing it on me to make sure it fit right. She kept pulling and touching "that" area and then made a comment about how small I was, something about having "nothing".

I don't have a problem with a male helping me to find the right size garment. Helping me to try it on to "see" if it fits right is an entirely different story and that goes for both, female or male.::yes:: Hands off!!!!!

teh fish - no, I was not saying that its alright for a gay or straight man to help me. I don't think that any man that is not my DH should help me at all. I was adding all the info that I had available.

How would you feel if the woman helping you was a lesbian? That is not something you could determine by just looking at her.

I've been wondering the same thing.

dukestreetking - I never thought of that. When I have been in need of advice concerning bras, I have always asked my DM. She has seen me in the buff before.

I have gone in there to make purchases and have asked for recommendations but I have never had anyone in the dressing room with me (but mom).

I don't think I would be comfortable with anyone when I am not fully dressed.

I also have a female DR for the yearly exams and have always had female Dr's.

I woman that he was helping was in her late 50's to early 60's. I should have made that clear from the beginning. Sorry.

Happy Thoughts to all,

Really this would not bother me. I wouldn't even care if he came in to see if the bra was fitting OK. Heck I show more in my swimsuit top than I do in bra. ROFL.

Hey, can I come to the beach with you?

:teeth:

Really it is not that exciting. I tend to wear mostly full coverage bras. For swimsuits I prefer halter top style bikini top. So by that alone I am showing more clevege.

A little OT, but I would bet many women would benefit from a professional "bra fitting". I don't know if the clerks at VS qualify in this regard, I am thinking more of the staff a small shops that specialize in fittings.

I remember going to one in NYC (can't think of the name) but it was done very professionally and I learned that I have really been wearing the wrong size for years. I'm sure there are many other women in the same situation but are too embarassed to get measured and fitted properly. The right bra can make all the difference in how your clothes fit, IMHO.

And there are still stores that do have help in the fitting rooms, which I do like some times. I am thinking of times when you are all undressed but you need a different size than what you brought in. It is great to just ask the person to get you another size without getting all dressed and undressed again.

Now as to the original post, I don't think I would care if a man was the clerk at the register at VS, but I think I might feel funny saying "Can you find me a 38C in the tiger print.." LOL!

DD and I just bought bras at VS a few months ago.

When they measure around your rib cage or high on your chest, they do wrap the tape measure all the way around. However, when they measure your bust, they do not - not sure how that works, but I did end up with the right size. I wouldn't have a problem with a guy measuring me for a bra at VS.

When I went into the dressing room, they gave me a box of bras in different styles to try on. The first one did not fit well, and I did ask the (female) attendant to come in. There was no touching involved - I just wanted to know which styles in the box would be the best bet for me to try with my figure. After that, I would try on a bra, put my T-shirt back on and open the door for her opinion. I would have been reluctant to ask a male into the dressing room, but would have been fine with putting my top back on and asking if a particular bra was giving me a nice shape.

My 14 yr old DD however, when asked about a guy (even a gay man) helping her at VS, replied "EWWWWW!!".

I totally agree with this. I went into VS looking for a bra for my wedding and I knew that I was a 32, the one they had didnt fit and they kept going up..34,36..nothing fit right.

When I found this guy, he measured me and realized that the 32 was right, but I needed a bigger cup size. I think VS people aren't as trained in fitting you as well as people in the smaller shops. Plus honestly they have such a limited selection! Nothing fits me! They carry main sizes, but nothing bigger.

I also had someone comment on me at VS. And she was stuck up! I mean, if you say things in a joking manner, we are good, but she was like; no one makes a strapless in your size, you are going to have to figure out something different..you are just too big..blah blah blah. The guy I go to is sooo funny and soo wonderful! I would have him go into the dressing room and fit me any day before I let stuck up VS people! (At least that has been my expierence!)

Wouldn't bother me too much, like others said, it's not like their helping you out in the fitting room.

There is a very nice looking man working at a local VS. He is usually only on the floor (front section) and the register only.

He seems very professional.

I personally would feel more uncomfortable with a woman in my dressing room than a man. Maybe I'm strange (ok ok I admit it I'm a little off ;) ) but when I go to Vickis I don't bother going in the dressing room I just buy. :)

Wouldnt bother me at all.
What bothered me once was when I was at a specialty shop, trying on a backless, strapless bra that I needed, and a female sales cleark practically forced her way in the fitting room with me. Uh, thanks but no thanks...I can dress myself.

Maybe they have guy to corner the guy market eg. a guy buying for his wife, girlfriend who is a little shy at going into a place like VS and having females help him.

Just an idea.

Good Answer!

Actually I used to work in retail and we sold mens and women's colthes. I never remember a woman feeling odd about a guy helping them out. It wasn't VS but half of the clothes we sold at Merry Go Round were showing more anyway!

Wouldn't bother me in the least, even in the dressing room. I would find it refreshing to have a male opinion on undergarment purchases. (women tend to just tell you what you want to hear, IMO) I am surprised at how many women are so modest. Or maybe I am just wierd....:teeth:
