Wow I thought I heard this last week, but was unable to follow-up until this evening. A man I met on the Cruise to Run, Jerry Friesen died last week while out for a run. Jerry was the race director for the cruise series. My interactions with Jerry were really limited to the planning for and then the week of the cruise in 2010. While on the cruise, his super positive attitude was catching. So much so that I thought of trying to catch a one of his races. He lived in the Grimsley, Ontario area. Jerry was all about running and racing.

One of the more poignant memories of the cruise was our final run in Victoria, BC. We ran from the ship along the coast finishing a 5k prediction race at the foot of the Terry Fox Statue. I know that Jerry had been there several times, but to see and feel his emotions as we waited for the remaining runners to hit the finish was an incredible experience. Jerry could have been a biographer for Terry. I only wish that I could have made it up to the Niagara area this summer for one of his races.

Thanks for listening...
