A long weekend at Universal for HHN?

We seem to have enough airline miles for two round trip tickets to Orlando and we will likely have enough points for a few free nights at an offsite hotel. I'm toying with the idea of me and my son flying down on a Thursday evening and staying until Sunday. We've always wanted to see HHN and this would likely be the only way.

Is this feasible? How crowded does HHN typically get on a weekend night? Is the Stay and Scream advisable?

Has anyone here ever done this?

This is exactly what my son and I did when we attended for the first time 3 years ago. We go on opening weekend for the AP discount on tickets and Frequent Fear pass. I would highly recommend the stay and scream. It gives you a jump start on a few houses from the outside crowd. Crowds will depend on which weekend night you attend. It was a great bonding experience with my son who is otherwise engaged in playing and sharing anything sports with his father. DH did not enjoy being scared at HHN the one time he went so I am happy to leave him at home watching the dogs!

Sure...a long weekend would be great. Keep in mind Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest nights for HHN and Express passes are almost mandatory...bad thing is...the EP's are VERY expensive on the weekends. The lines easily reach two hours or more for each house...and I'm not kidding! Stay & Scream is definately the way to go so as long as you're in the park before 5pm, you can stay. Plus...the Express passes are more reasonable on Thursday nights.

So we would need regular park passes, HHN passes and Express passes? Wow, that could add up. I'll have to think about this...

I don't think that we would be able to arrive on time to go on Thursday night. DS would miss a day of school as it is and two is not a good idea in his situation.

ETA: Maybe we could get just the HHN passes and the Express? We were in Universal just this June so we don't HAVE to tour the parks. I'd hate to skip them but we could.

The Stay & Scream upgrade tickets are: Thursday - $29.99, Friday - $49.99 and Saturday - $59.99...that's in addition to the park passes. Now...the Express passes: Thursday - $59.99 and Friday & Saturday - $74.99 (not including the first two weekends). It is definately expensive if you don't hit it right.

i think your son would love to miss a day or two of high school for hhn......
no matter what the cost is, it is well worth it for me.

one note, if you don't plan to buy tickets for the park, you should get in line around 4:30-5:00 at the front of the entrance gate so you will be in the park early as can be.

that general admission line will open at 6:30 pm.
all you need is the hhn tickets then.

but, being in the park when it closes and going to the stay and scream holding area is to your advantage.
