A long trip!

We finally arrived after 8.5 hours when normally it takes 5.5hours! My mother had a rough trip down she's 90 years old and started to get sick just over the Grapevine...we had to stop 3 time that last stretch of the trip and that put us in rush hour traffic anyways we got her all settled in the room and headed over to Rainforest Cafe for dinner, then my husband headed back to Valencia for Business and my daughter had to study! So I did what every good mother would do and i went for a walk and found myself wondering around the parks alone As soon as I got back to the room the first words out of my daughters mouth were you went in the park! I just smiled and said I did not ride any rides! I am so happy to be here it's so relaxing and I love the smells in the park!

Say what? You visited the land but did not venture onto any of the rides?

I hope that your mother is feeling much better now, that way she will be ready for an adventure tomorrow with Indy, can't stand him up now can ya'?

It sounds like you are having a lot of fun already. Try to keep it down a bit though because some of us are still stuck up here in Nor Cal and are trying to go to sleep.

Welcome to my favorite thing to do at DLR. Enjoy those walks. I wander through DL without going on a single ride many, many days. My goal is to someday get people here on DIS to understand how many amazingly wonderful things there are to do at Disneyland other than check rides off of checklists.

The greatest thing about DL is being there!
When I walk through the turnstiles, I enter another world -- a world where no doorbells ring, no phones ring, and I have no fears because the outside world is gone.
The rides are just an add-on.

I LOVE THE SMELLS! Hopefully your mom is feeling better and can enjoy the parks with you the next time you go in. I think you really needed to go into the parks alone and clear your head after that day. Its amazing what a little time alone will do. Especially in Disneyland, you cant go wrong.

It truly is a different world! From the moment you walk through the turnstiles and hear that wonderful Chime when they scan your ticket! I just love that sound! And hearing the Disney train and smelling all those wonderful smells...I hope your mom is feeling better so she can enjoy all of this with your family!! Have a great trip!
