Our 11 year old toy poodle has been on phenobarbitol (spell?) her whole life for seizures. It has kept the seizures down to a minimum. Maybe one every couple months.
But in the last 2 months she has been having clusters of seizures, like 4 in one evening, 3-4 the next day, a couple more the next day, ......... This situation is not livable. It's awful.
She really seems to be suffering. It breaks my heart.

I called the vet again and he did bloodwork yesterday to check her levels, to see what if anything we can do to get these seizures under control. I talk to him tomorrow.

My family keeps telling me that if we can get these under control, we'll have to put her down. She's suffering too much.
I feel so bad.
She's laying on the floor next to me as I type this, she rarely leaves my side anymore, she's just not herself. She looks so sad.

I'm so sorry your puppy is suffering. :( I hope the vet can come up with something. Whatever happens, always remember what a happy life you've given her. {{{{Hugs}}}}

Sometimes the humane thing is to put them down. It is VERY hard, but you have to ask if the quality of their life is good enough for them or are you avoiding it because of you.

{{Hugs}} I'm so sorry your puppy isn't doing well. :(
I hope the vet can find a way to control the seizures.

Unfortunately, sometimes putting our pets to sleep is really the best thing for them. :(

Oh Sandi - I'm so sorry for you & your precious pooch - It is so hard..... we had to make that decision for on of our dogs before & it was about the hardest thing in the world to do - just because I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing her again... But she was in so much pain & it was only going to get worse - it was time...
I'll light a candle for you & your baby....{{{{{Hugs}}}}}

I am so sorry. :( (((((HUGS)))))

Sandi, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that the vet has good news for you today.

I have a dog who is 3 & we call him out baby boy. I do know what you're going thru & I'm soo sorry!:(

I hope the vet can do something for you. When our Poodle, Lacy, hit 11 yrs old her occasional (once in a year or so) seizures went to an everyday, sometimes multiple times thing. They were horrible too.. she would scream like she was in tremendous pain but the vet assured us it was because she was disoriented and scared, not in pain. It took a good 6 months or so to find the right level of pheno. On top of that, aggravating the seizures, she had a bad case of glaucoma. (both of these ailments are very common in poodles) Once they took care of the glaucoma by "killing" that eye and got her leveled on pheno, she went back to her normal self.

Good luck and I hope things work out. Please PM us if you have any questions

Oh Sandi, I am sorry. I really do know exactly how you feel. I'm going through something like this with my 15 year old cat. It just breaks your heart to see the big sad eyes and they can't tell you what's wrong.

Sandi, I am so sorry your dog's health is declining. That is such a difficult thing to deal with. I hope that the vet can adjust the level of meds and perhaps buy you more time with your friend.

Hugs.

{{hugs}} I know that family pets are family...I am so sorry ..I hope the vet can do something....

I know what you're going through....it was 5 years ago, almost to the day that we had to put our almost 11 year old Weim down. It was such a tough decision and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

{{{hugs}}}

Awwww, I am so sorry to hear that you may be facing a tough decision. :( {{{{Hugs}}}}

:( Rana :(

I hope they can get those levels under control. {{{HUGS}}} sweetie

So very sorry to read this, Sandi. Our pets bring us so much joy and happiness in life, and so much sadness when their time comes. Hoping the vet can determine and prescribe something that will do your friend well. {{Hugs}}

I'm so sorry your little dog is suffering. I sure hope the vet can get the medication adjusted for her. (((hugs)))

I am so sorry to hear this about your dog :( I do hope that your vet will be able to help. {{hugs}}
