You've got some great ressies on there, and some I have ressies for my May trip, so I can't wait to see those! You've got 3 of my favorite places on there: California Grill, Ohana, and 50's Prime Time!

Can't wait to hear and see the pics! :thumbsup2

I LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!! Thank you so much for getting this written up. It's been way too long since I looked over your blog so I don't think I've seen this stuff yet. You're a great writer.

We felt the same way about 'Ohana. The meal was great but the dessert was lacking. We'll be back next month.

For 50s PTC, I just mark down in my questionaire from Special Diets that the kids will definitely want fried chicken. It seemed as though the chef was hearing this for the first time when we were there in August but I'd swear we didn't wait too long for their food. Of course they were LOVING their milkshakes and the TV. Come to think of it, parties who were seated after us were done dessert and leaving while we were still eating our main courses so I guess they did make it from scratch at that time. I wonder if I should get back with SD to mention that I'd like our request specifically brought to the attention of the chef? For the person who asked, they can definitely make the fried chicken soy free. DD10 can't eat anything made with soy milk (she can use Tofutti products though so I know it's not actually soy but she always reacts to every type of soy milk we've tried). They made the chicken free of gluten, milk, eggs and soy my girls. The milkshakes were made with Tofutti ice cream and rice milk (they don't like the taste of Rice Dream ice cream but they did carry it if I remember correctly). I'm pretty sure the brownie was just French Meadow in August but they made a pretty sundae for DD10. DD12 decided to skip dessert because she just couldn't stop eating that AMAZING fried chicken. I'm so glad you went!!

Oooh, mango sorbet at Coral Reef? DD13 loves mango. I wonder if there's any citrus fruit in that? I think manufacturers sometimes put orange or lemon juice in with mango stuff. You have several citrus based foods that sound so good. I really wish my kids could eat those.

Another great review!! Again, THANK YOU!!!

We were offered Earth Balance margarine at the Wave in December 2009. If you stay at BLT again, it's something to keep in mind.

Great!:goodvibes I know how helpful it was for me to be able to read/see gluten free Disney food.:thumbsup2 This will be my 1st time eating there since being gluten free and I'm anxious for good food!

Thanks!:goodvibes I'm excited to try these places out. We've eaten at some of them in the past but that before going gluten free. I hope your top 3 deliver for me too! Honestly, I am very, very leary of eating out at home now as I've been glutened several times. So this is a real treat going to Disney and getting gluten free food that I don't have to cook!

.

Be careful with mango. It and cashews are related to poison ivy and can cause allergies. After eating mango for many years, I developed an allergy where my lips, tongue and throat swelled from eating it. Then a couple of years later, the same thing happened with cashews. The doctor "forgot" to mention that they were related.

I was wondering how to contact the chef and if the chicken and ice cream is soy free also? I am hoping so, I have a dairy and soy allergy. Thanks
There is contact information for Special Diets in post 3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is not contact information for specific chefs/restaurants, but there is contact information for each park in addition to the general WDW contact.

Glad you enjoyed the reviews! And thanks for the tip about Earth Balance at the Wave! Good to know! :) I don't know about the mango sorbet having citrus, but my guess is that it's likely. I am amazed at some of the things that get mixed in sorbet. I was very bummed at Yak & Yeti to find out that all of their sorbets have milk in them (I thought sorbet was supposed to be milk free!?).

I hope you enjoy and you don't have any glutenized moments. WDW and Red Robin are the only places I have never gotten glutenized, so I hope the same goes for your trip! :thumbsup2

You're correct. Sorbets are only fruit and ice while sherbets can contain eggs and/or milk. The restaurant should have called it sherbet, not sorbet. Maybe it really was a sherbet and the server just mispronounced the name? Most people I don't think realize that there's a difference and use the terms interchangeably.

You are so right, there is a difference, and yet people say them interchangeably! Unfortunately, it's printed on the menu as sorbet, and both the chef and server referred to it as sorbet too. At least I found out, can you imagine if they gave it to me without me knowing?! eek! :scared1:

Awesome reviews! Thanks for sharing so much info.

Interesting to hear about Earth Balance at LTT. Did they tell you that was what it was? On our trip I ordered some from Garden Grocer and brought a small tupperware dish with me. When we were heading to TS restaurants I would throw some in my purse for DS. Worked out well, but part of that is because he was 4 and doesn't always understand that not every place carries soy versions of things. I didn't think he would eat a roll or a waffle without it.

We didn't make it to HS last trip, but 50's Primetime is high on our list for our next trip.

Oh and the Contempo Cafe really through me for a loop too. We had just flown in on early flights with young kids. We were hungry and couldn't get into our rooms yet so we headed there for lunch. It was my first trip to WDW (other than day trips when I was younger) and first with an allergic child. I went in pretty well informed about eating with allergies at Disney, but those kiosks and the allergy procedures and questions about what comes with a CS meal plan (like the Soy milk being too big for a kids drink) really flustered me the first time.

Yes, the chef told me it was Earth Balance. I knew that it is available on property, but I hadn't been able to get it so far. This was nice, because I tend to bring containers of it when I go to restaurants locally, but since I fly didn't bring it w/me on the trip to WDW. However, my parents are driving this time, so I will be sending some along w/them. I much prefer it to olive oil for the ener-g rolls. And I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only person who had problems w/those kiosks! I much prefer the "traditional" counter service!

Thanks so much for your posts and your blogs! My wife and I are headed to the world next month for our 4th trip since she was diagnosed with celiac. Disney is the best place we've ever been for GF awareness. We have ADRs at California Grill (loved your blog review!), Le Cellier (hope we fair better than your last visit...), Yachtsman (have you been there yet?), and La Hacienda -- Mexican is almost always good for GF. Thanks again for the great reports!

I am glad you enjoy the blogs and reviews :) Keep me updated on your Le Cellier visit--I'd love to hear if this was better than my last visit. I hope as it moves into a 2 credit for the DDP that things will improve on the quality. It used to be one of my fav restaurants prior to going GF/dairy free. I haven't been to Yachstman Steakhouse yet, but have heard good things! And yes, Mexican is always a great GF friendly food. I loved the Cantina, so I expect the dinner as it switches to La Hacienda will be great too! Looking forward to your reviews :)
