A (Long) Framing Question for Nat

I mostly lurk here on the CB, but I know Nat is the framing guru. I hope he can help me with a framing question.

Nat, I thought I read that you mostly use the shadow-box type of frames for your pin sets? If so, how do you keep the pins and whatever you've matted them on from "falling forward" towards the glass? Do you use some kind of spacer between the glass and the pins? I was looking at pictures you've posted and couldn't see any, so I'm curious what you do.

I'm asking because I framed a photo of our family posing w/the Mickey topiary outside the VWL with our VWL pin in a shadowbox frame. Dh was worried it would fall forward and put in thin wood "spacers" along the edges that he stained to match the frame. However, you can see these spacers if you look at it from an angle.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this would be appreciated!! TIA!

I cut a mat to the size of the back of the shadow box. I replace the piece of lucite that comes with the shadow box with the mat. It allows me to secure the pins to the "New" back and put what ever I want in the front of the pins. By putting the hanger on it it puts just enough lean in to the box so the backs don't hit the wall. I use rubber backs now just to be safe.
