Greetins from the Beach Club Lobby!

It was a wonderful day today at WDW, but, it was smoky from the Waycross Fires. This evening was WONDERFUL! We wondered over to EPCOT for a last ride in Malstrom before it closes for rehab.

Any questions? Ask them here and I will probably log in again later in the week and answer them.

Later!

Do you know the current hours of SAB?

Are you using the DDP? If so, have you use QS at BCMarketplace? In the past, we found the choices for sides and desserts to be far more limited than other QS...hoping it has changed.

But mostly, have a great vacation!

Any idea how long Malstrom will be closed ? Will be down there in 3 weeks and was hoping to go on it but I'm guessing it'll still be down.

Thanks

What kind of music is in the rooms? CD player? Radio?

Thanks,

How bad are the crowds right now? Someone posted that Sunday (April 30), the MK was very crowded. I'm getting nervous for our late May/early June trip. We never go at this time; we always to in December because the weather is better and the crowds are lighter the week or so before Christmas. We cannot go in December this year, again, due to the school schedule, so we're biting the bullet and hoping to get a jump on the summer crowds.

I will be leaving Tuesday the 8th and staying there (YAY) was wondering as many are about the smoke update.

Also what about the refillable mugs? Are they the new ones YOAMD or the same Yacht and Beach Club mugs?

Have a great trip - I can't wait to get there!!!

My DBF and I will be arriving at the Beach Club this Saturday!!!  Hope you are enjoying your trip! My biggest question is the crowds how are they?????????????????????

It'll take me a few days to catch up, but, I'll do what I can here.

Crowds. Not too bad in May. We started April 29th and it was pretty crowded no matter where we went. As time went by, it got better. Friday the 11th at the Magic Kingdom was busier than we would have liked, but, it gave us time to discuss the issue of taking your kids out of school to go to DisneyWorld and class trips to Disney World (items for another board). Otherwise it was the standard May crowds.

Our Room was #444 (a studio) in the Villas. It was clean, but, the Boss wasn't happy with the sheets on the bed. She thought they were too short (I didn't have a problem myself). I managed to spill coffee on the carpet at one point and Mousekeeping worked their magic and did the whole carpet.

Our view was of EPCOT. I could lay in bed with the blinds open and see Mickey's hand and Spaceship Earth through the trees. The Land and Soarin' were also there. We could see the High fireworks from Illuminations with ease. Only problem is that we also faced EPCOT Resort Drive and if we left the door's open, the traffic would sometimes wake us up. Had no troubles with bugs flying in that high up.

SAB closes at 9:00 pm. I don't remember opening hours.

Mugs and DDP They had YOAMD mugs, but, we didn't see them until after we bought the Y&B club ones. We did breakfast at the Marketplace once, but, we weren't thrilled by that. The Boss loved the Gellato.

We did the DDP, but, somehow ended up with 6 counter servies and 3 snack credits left on the last day. One DD run later and we had a to go Pizza from Wolfgang Pucks and 3 Earl of Sammages.

Music in the rooms. Standard TV and Clock radio. DVC rooms have a DVD player that you could use to play CDs.

Malstrom will be down a few weeks at best. Spaceship Earth was down Wed and Thur but open Friday.

The smoke seems to be bad in the morning and then the cross Florida breeze starts up and it clears out. On Wednesday the 9th you could barely see across the World Showcase lagoon in the morning, but, by 3 it was very nice again.

That's all for now. I post more later!

According to Disney's website, Maelstrom will be closed from May 12 - May 24. It was originally scheduled until the 25th, but I guess they are going to open it a day earlier than originally planned. You shouldn't have closure problems when you go (with Maelstrom at least). :cool1:
