I can't believe no one else saw this this morning! From today's WDW Update at MousePlanet:

Construction update

Here is the listing of interesting items from paperwork filed with Orange County in the last week:

Magic Kingdom Casey's Corner – interior improvements.
Magic Kingdom Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse queue area – general construction.
Magic Kingdom Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse exit bridge – construction.
Magic Kingdom Splash Mountain force main – plumbing.
Disney's Hollywood Studios Minn & Bill's Dockside Diner – construction.
Downtown Disney Marketplace – equipment installation.
ESPN Wide World of Sports HP Fieldhouse – additional graphics.
STOLport – installation of trailer compound for Grand Floridian Villas project.
Polynesian Resort building 2, Room 2225 only – structural work.
Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia Bend buildings 80 and 85 (Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace) – room renovations.

Of course, nothing is certain until dirt moves (and, sometimes, not even then) but this is an interesting step for sure---a specific contractor is named for the Compound. The reason that this is claimed to be for GFV is that it uses the same project number listed on the impact disclosure.

Edited: it was also noted up in the Resorts board:

You know that is great but why oh why can't it be the Poly. We love this resort and stayed there quite a bit until we became DVC members. We would add on in a heart beat if it was there. But it will not be at the Poly as long as they are selling the new Aulani DVC in Hawaii. My logic is it would be to similar and folks that would think about buying there would probably buy at the Poly instead...smjj

I love the GF, and would love a GFV! If it does go through I hope the decor they furnish it with is a bit better quality than what's been used of late!

I completely agree. Really was hoping for the Poly next.

On April 21, 2011, the South Florida Water Management District approved the permit request filed on March 7, 2011, for Disney's "Project 2011-1", AKA the Grand Floridian Site. The project can be tracked on the SFWMD's website under Application # 110307-4.

Mouseinfoguide.com has a copy of the actual permit. http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/downloads/20110218124.pdf?id=DOC781S780.A0&parent=DOC781S780

The permit refers to Project 2011-1. No mention of the Grand Floridian or GF DVC. The permit gives the general description as Installation of the Stolport Trailer Compound, Project 2011-1.

Project 2011-1 is the project number the Grand Floridian Project that many of us think it means a new DVC project.

If a trailer compound is being constructed, it sounds to me like the project will be started pretty soon.

Meh. Sad news to me. I was hoping they'd follow though on the Ft Wilderness project which I'd buy into in a heartbeat. The Grand Floridian wows many people, but it reminds me of my Nana's house - too much Victorian styling and sparkle. Does nothing for me.

Thanks for sharing! I really hope it happens. I am a big believer in resale but GFV would be tempting... popcorn::

There is definitely construction trailers being brought into the STOLport, saw them yesterday.

I think the GF Villas will be a quick addon and the Fort Wilderness project will be another development similar to OKW and SSR.

at $175 a pt :eek:to start and resales will start one yr after it opens:lmao:

And the garden view studio will be 200 points for the week.

I hope if it is GFV, they have Conceirge available.

That's what a bus driver told me. Actually, I did hear that from an in-park DVC salesperson, that the Villas at GF were aiming for those guests wanting to stay concierge level at GF

It does make sense to do both from STOLport. It's over on the Contemporary side, if memory serves.

Was there a Project ID on the Ft. Wilderness-area drawings/permit?

There are at least two active projects occurring in the Fort Wilderness area. The East Parcel Development Project involves the movement of the horse stables and ancillary structures from the north end of Fort Wilderness to the southern end. The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) application number is 101021-29 for this project. A second project is called Project 2011-2B and involves the relocation of an existing food service operation and improvements associated with a dining pavilion. Its SFWMD application number is 110503-12.
