A little Texas Christmas Magic - 12/21/2012

Brooklyn, it seemed to be too overwhelming for us too with all the details but we really enjoy doing the FE exchanges. It is so much fun and it will be even better on the Christmas cruise because it will make you feel like you are secret Santa. :santa: It was so neat to come back to our stateroom to find a surprise waiting for us in our FE! No matter whether the gift was big or small, we loved them all! As a matter of fact, we enjoy putting together our FE gifts for everyone just as much as receiving our FE gifts. And that's the true spirt of Christmas since it always better to give than receive. :santa: Hope you reconsider.:)

-------Brooklyn and Grlzmom -------
I also hope you reconsider. As said in the previous post, it is the spirit of the exchange. I hate to admit it but my kids enjoy a bag of candy over some of the beautiful, time consuming gifts they receive!!! We participate because we enjoy giving and I have never judged one gift over another.

I have updated the google document to indicate my two rooms are two seperate families participating in the exchange.

20+ Secret Santas onboard the Disney Magic!!! I can't wait. :yay:

Also, does anyone want to share what excursions they are going on?
Here is ours:
Key West: Conch Train
Costa Maya: Tropicante reserved, thinking about Dolphin Encounter
Cozumel: Beach Day with Hmorale & Petdoc (non DCL)

And, anyone else staying at the Galvez on 12/20?

The only excursion we have booked is in Costa Maya: Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. We have never done a western caribbean cruise before but after reading different threads on DIS we are going to take a taxi in Cozumel to one of the surrounding beaches...I think it is Paradise Beach...and in Key West we are just going to walk around to see the sights.

We are staying at the Hotel Galvez for one night after our cruise so you will have to let us know how it is! :)

do u want fav character for each person or just one column?

ohhhhh....That might be a lot of columns and not everyone is listing fav. characters.
What do you suggest? Would it be better to have one for NOTES where they could indicate fav. characters if they want?

For those that have been on a Christmas cruise before, do you remember if they serve the more holiday traditional foods (yule log) on Christmas or Christmas Eve?

Thanks, Jill

Disney does try to keep the food traditional holiday. The dinner menu will have a traditional holiday meal and of course several other options as well. I don't know what a yule log is so I can't answer that question.

Did I miss a post about the sign up for FE and ornament exchange?

------------hotchpot and carly68----------------

You can join the FE by adding your informtion to the google document - link found in post #174.

Posts 64 and 65 have additional information that may help answer some of your questions. If you still have questions after reviewing the threads, post again.:scared1:

Welcome to the gift exchange!!!!

:santa:
Yes, on our Magic cruise there was a yule log for desert.
I seem to remember turkey, dressing, cranberries for dinner as well. On that cruise Christmas was one of the formal nights, and we were in Lumieres for dinner. I absolutely remember the yule log, because I had 2 deserts that night!!

Last year we had Christmas menu on Christmas day...it was last night of cruise so no baked alaska or parade of country flags. :(

I did not love the menu at all. Hence why I have Palo Dinner booked that night and will just take girls to dinner after. It will all depend though on performers, etc for the night.

My partner and I are taking this cruise with our 13 y/o daughter. Forgive my ignorance :rotfl2: but what do all the initials mean? I know FE is fish extender and believe DD is daughter, but what about everything else?

I've ordered a FE for this cruise, it does sound fun!

:santa::santa::santa:

:rotfl: I felt the exact same way about all the initals too when I first joined!

I can add a notes column that way people can put down allergies and such too. :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm all signed up for the FE and the ornament exchange!

Beth (DISer) - loves Pluto
Sandy (DW) - loves Tigger
Madison (DD13) - loves Stitch

OK, so my parents will have a FE outside their cabin & will be distributing gifts to the other listed FEs. And, my family will have an FE outside our cabin & will be distributing to other FEs. Right?
I don't mean to be dense, but since we are under my Dis-name I want to make sure that people know we are 2 seperate cabins. I also don't want to be confused!:crazy2:
I'm glad the spreadsheet was created since I need to special order supplies for my FE gift and I can get a start!
Also, does anyone want to share what excursions they are going on?

Cozumel: Beach Day with Hmorale & Petdoc (non DCL)

Wow! We in (and on) the same boat. My family is in one room, parents are in another and grown up brothers are in yet a third cabin. All of us will be bringing our own items for each FE and 1 ornament per room for that exchange.

As far as our excursions go, Here is what we are looking at:
Key West: Conch Train
Costa Maya: Tropicante reserved,
Cozumel: Maybe the Amazing Race Coumel

Hi
I am new to the whole FE thing. Cruised with Disney in 2006 but never heard of this. We are on the 12/21/12 Christmas cruise. 2 families with adjoining cabins. I think we would like to join the group but want to make sure we're doing it "right".
Is there a way we could just do gifts for the kids not adults in our cabins? I'm not sure how to get on the spreadsheet.
We have Jack (14), Alyssa (11) in #7600 and Sydney (13) and Jaedyn (10) in #7602 1 boy (Jack) and 3 girls.
Also, is the ornament exchange a separate thing?
Do we just give one gift per person for the whole cruise. I don't have space in my luggage for a gift for everyone for every day? Is there an assigned day that you give your gifts or just pick a day?
Sorry so many questions.
Carly

WOW! Looks like the 7th deck is going to be a hotbed of Dis-boards :thumbsup2

Schnerk, I have you down as 2 for the ornament xchange.
Should I change that to 3?
I want everyone that brings an ornament to leave with a new one!
Let me know.
:duck:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:
Not for my family, but my parents got their docs in the mail yesterday.
So this dance is for Rich & Mary Anne~hooray!:cheer2:

I will be looking for ours to come on Tuesday since there is no mail Monday, Veterans Day. Someone better get to the mailbox before the boys or our surprise will be ruined...:scratchin

Anyone else get their documents?

Skypixy, my daughter would like to participate in the ornament exchange as well...hopefully it's not too late to join! :)
