A little Texas Christmas Magic - 12/21/2012

I have searched the boards for those posted from other cruises, same ports as ours. Also checked mine from 2010 Christmas cruise & the ones Brooklyn posted. Of course, everything is "subject to change" per each cruise. I was trying to stay away from any dance parties, Mickey 200 & other popular events like wine tastings or "the art of" tours.
We won't get our Navigators until we board. Bring a highlighter so you can circle the events you don't want to miss!

The google spreadsheet is a great idea - thanks for setting it up.

I've added us on for the FE and the ornament exchange. 9.30am on Sat 22 Dec is fine with us (we are going to Palo on the 24th).

All starting to get close now, we are going to tell the kids this weekend. Will be great to share all the excitement.

I wonder if the morning of Key West would work. DCL tends not to schedule much on port days and since it is like "half a sea day" that might work. I don't know just throwing it out there.

I Just input our info on the spreadsheet. I noticed that some families are down 2 and 3 times for FEs. Are we counting families or staterooms? That can get to be a lot for the families that are in multiple cabins. What was the verdict on family vs cabin? Just trying to get an idea of FE count....

It was in Studio Sea. That place is huge! And, as if you are going to wake up early enough to meet at 0930.
Joking. I am still waiting to hear if people have brunch/spa services scheduled that first day...Now, where am I going to find a decent costume??

No- I don't think that was the place. It is not an actual room but a walkway with an open lounge area....oh phooey! I'm not explaining myself well...

And yes Bethanne, 9:30 will be hard for me but we all have to make consessions LOL!!

I think that is great idea! We don't get into Key West until 12:30 so it probably would be better anyway since they always schedule a lot of activities the first sea day.

I have both our cabins down. We usually do a gift per cabin that we have. I will go with what the group goes with. The reason we do more than one gift (from us) is bc when only 1 gift shows up from another family then my girls each get one. Honestly though it depends what people are giving. If they are doing a gift per room or if they give items for each person in the room then it does not really matter in the end. We don't do per person gifts we give per room gifts. We will give 2 different gifts (one from each of our rooms). If however everyone just wants one per family then that works too. I hope that makes sense....I think I am confused now! lol

Let's keep the rooms seperate, some are large families needing two rooms and others are seperate families but the family members in the second cabin are not disers and therefore do not have "dis" names. For example I have two rooms under dfsc - but the second room is my friend with her three children. I just signed her up under my "dis" name since she is not registered on the boards.

Each cabin has the age and # of people in the cabin. This will allow the GIFTER to decide if they want to give to just the kids, the entire family, or each individual person.

Okay, I am really getting confused on the FE exchange. I have entered the 2 rooms that I have. I would really like to make just one FE for my whole family. Should I only put one of the room numbers down?

The FE is different from the ornament exchange which only requires 1 ornament to participate.

The FE will require 1 gift for each room. At this point we have 26 rooms. You will give each room a gift and you will receive a gift from approx. 26 families.

The "gifter" may give each individual a gift, give just the kids a gift or the room may receive a family gift. There are really no rules, it simply depends what you want to give.

This exchange is mid size, I have been in smaller and larger groups. Large groups are an expense but it also means during the 8 days you will always have a "surprise" in your gift bag when you return to your room!!!!

If you feel the exchange is overwhelming just let me know and I will remove your name.

You can access the document in the link below or in post #174 to update your information. This will be an easy document to print before the cruise with the groups updated information.

I wanted to let everyone know that I created a google spreadsheet for this cruise. These spreadsheets are a great way to keep track on information.

We have had Facebook pages for the last few cruises and they have been great! I tend to be on FB more than the DIS. It is also a great way to share links and photos!

Let's make this simple (so families don't have to drop out)...on the spreadsheet instead of calling it "FE" call it "FE cabin." This way a family with 2 or 3 cabins who still want to participate in the FE but only want to exchange one FE gift from their family can pick the one cabin as an "FE cabin." This way they will still receive one FE gift and only have to give one FE gift from their family. This will make it fair for all families to choose how many "FE cabins" they will have participating.

On our last cruise we had issues with this same situation...we gave out FEs to each of the cabins but some families who had more than one cabin gave out only one gift. This is why we were saying that we were only going to give out one FE gift per family...but I think making it an "FE cabin" will resolve this.

Only 45 days until our cruise!
