So here is the story, sorry it's so long. My DH and I were supposed to fly out today to Ft. Lauderdale then drive to WDW on Sat. We had to push our trip back and were planning on flying out straight to WDW on Sat the 10th. We also added three nights to make up for our lost time in Ft. Lauderdale. So we will be at WDW from the 10-16 at BWV then the 16-22 at POFQ. Then this morning we decided that I should fly down ahead of my DH on Wed the 7th with our DD1. Where we will stay at pop century for three nights alone. Now that it is all booked I am kinda scared to travel alone with my DD and then be at the parks alone. I guess I am wondering if anyone has flown alone with a one year old? And am I crazy for thinking this will work?

I flew with my DD when she was 8mos. old. It worked out fine. I checked her car seat in with my luggage. Have fun!

Dont worry it will be fine - I have flown with my kids alone since they were born. Look it this way if you can grocery shop, clothes shop and generally take your child where you need to go you can do anything.

Pack as light as you can, get help from the skycap and bring your stroller. You can bring it right to the gate, gate check it and it will be waiting when you deplane at the door of the aircraft.

As for the parks/resorts you will have a blast. I love my 1-1 trips as you can see from my tags. Just take it easy - enjoy room service, food courts and having your room made. Bring a full size reclining stroller so you can have some time for yourself when baby is napping.

I would put dd's in pj's and head to world showcase early evening, they loved the sights and sounds and the live entertainment. Then they would fall asleep and I would recline the stroller and have some "time for myself". A margherita from mexico and a slow stroll around WS listening to all the live entertainment and watching the shows and even the dancing fountains.

On a logistical note, pack everything in a backpack rather than using the stroller carrier this way you can pack up and fold quick. Use a sling or front carrier for rides and bus trips so you can wear the backpack and baby while getting the strolle ron the bus. Sounds like alot but it really isn't.

thank you for all the wonderful tips! I plan on taking a lightweight stroller that reclines. I will only have three days alone, my DH will meet us there on Sat. I plan to pack only what we will need for those first few days and my DH will bring the rest. I plan to bring our baby bjorn carrier but I cannot use it since I am almost 7 months pregnant. It will be nice to have someone else cook my food and clean my room!

Just leave yourself plenty of time at the airport! Take your time through security and tune out anyone who is getting impatient. If you go the backpack route, be sure to keep any valuables in either a fanny pack or buried deep within the backpack so that no one can open the pack and remove them when you are distracted.

You can't use the Baby Bjorn while pregnant, but could use a sling in a hip carry position - I like the ones from www.kangarookorner.com but www.hotslings.com has a good reputation too!

I am not looking foward to going through security I know how long that can take. Plus my ticket was changed so it is a one way. That is like a promise you will be searched a little more. I do not mind it but alone with a 1 year old might be a little tough. Last Sept. we took her to disney and they had to search her and wand her! LOL, she was only three months but I guess there is no end to what some people will do to cause harm to other people. I am thinking about getting the playtex hipster. They seem to work good, plus I need something I can buy before I leave.

I have done both, Well as for the flying it is a challange but not something that can be done with bringing the right things with you, Books and some crayons, and even some little baby toys that my liitle one enjoyed, we didnt fly to WDW becasue we live here but on a trip when my DD was 1 1/2 I eneded up doing MK with just me and her. It was the best trip ever, We had so much fun!!!! I enjoyed it alot cause I pretty much did whatever I wanted. SHe was too little to give input, lol It was nice cause we sat down and watched the parade and had snacks and just had soo much fun. Relax and enjoy the time you get alone with your little one, it will be fun!!!

Took my ds with me on a business trip when he was 9 months, and it was fine until our flight had to turn around due to fog. I couldn't get a non-stop so I was sorta stranded for food because I could not get to my luggage and I didn't plan on spending the night in a hotel with him. So my only advice is if your not flying non-stop bring a little extra everything just in case your not where you want to be and don't have access to your "stuff".

I hate to sound like a nike commercial, but just do it! :wave2:
You will be fine and feel like a stronger person for it.
