I know a few people here have asked about Fort Desoto. We tent camped there this weekend and it was wonderful! The price is $25 per night, including water & electricity. The restrooms/showers are kept very clean! I didn't use the laundry machines this time, but I peeked at them and they looked very nice and clean too.

We had site 63, on the outside edge of the loop, on the water. We fished from our site (didn't catch anything though :confused3 ).

They don't allow ground fires, but we bought a bundle of firewood and made a fire in the bbq grill and roasted marshmallows. A lot of people were doing that.

This is a wonderful campground to relax and unwind after a Disney trip for a few nights! It's about an hour from WDW, right by St. Pete Beach. Here's a link: Fort Desoto County Park

I grew up going to Ft. Desoto to camp(late 70's through the 80's) and always remember how peaceful it was there and it was awesome camping right on the beautiful gulf water. We would always see the dolphins swimming not far off the beach. Good to hear it is still kept in good condition. Hope to one day be able to make it back!

I believe that "Dr. Beach" listed DeSoto as one of the top beaches in the world (little "w", lol). I would love to go there during our next visit to WDW, even though it is out of the way.

It is a beautiful beach! Great shells too!
