For anyone who has already had their Disney Fairy Tale Wedding... what did you do with your dress after the wedding?

After giving it a lot of thought I've decided to sell mine. I absolutely LOVED my dress... but what am I going to do with it at this point, you know? It was really pricey, and I kind of like the thought of letting someone else get a great deal on a dress for their wedding. I'm just a little lost as to how to sell it... I've tried Craigslist and Ebay, but no luck. I'm discounting the dress a LOT but it's like people want to pay something crazy like 10% of what I paid for it, which I think is unreasonable. I'm wondering if perhaps Craigslist and Ebay are the wrong places to try to sell it.

So: Do any of you have any suggestions of other places I could try? My DH and I are going back to WDW for an anniversary trip in a few months, and I'd love to use the dress money to book some special tours or dinners or something to make the trip extra special. :wizard:

Thanks in advance!!

There might be more out there but those are the first sites that come to mind when selling a dress. :)

Thank you! I will check those out. I forgot to mention, I actually did try Once Wed, but no bites there either. I bought the dress at Kleinfeld's in NYC for $2500 (including the cost of the bustle and just a bit of taking in) and I'm only listing it at $600... plus I've already had it professionally cleaned by Carolyn Allen's and I didn't factor in that cost (of course). I feel like it's a great deal but am I totally out of whack? Do people want a bigger discount than that for a previously worn dress?

Ha, I am really overthinking this huh... I thought the only stressful part of this would be deciding to sell the dress!

I think the odds of finding the ONE person that is in YOUR size that wants your particular dress are very small. I do also think that a used wedding dress is not worth anywhere close to what was paid for it new. I would say if you find anyone willing top try it on or interested and you are truly interested in selling it, you need to manage your expectations. I purchased a used gown after my gown was ruined by my seamstress. I was shocked at what people were asking for a used altered gown.

I do not think your issue is your price I think the issue is the needle in the haystack chance of finding that one right person in your size.

I also have no idea now what to do with the dress after the fact. I do need to have it cleaned but not sure i want to fork over another 200 to have it preserved.

oh no! Now I'm worried mine won't sell!

I came here (after a long DisBoards hiatus) looking for advice because I just listed my dress today on Preownedweddingdresses.com. I received a lot of great advice from this board from Dis brides, so I thought this would be a good place to check for advice again! :thumbsup2

I was wondering if I should try posting on multiple sites. Has anyone had good luck with one site over another? Thoughts?

Here's my listing if you have any advice on how to improve it. If nothing else, you can follow the link to my photos to see a few from my big day (Feb 2011). :bride:

thanks for any help you can offer! Good luck Kimmers!

I still haven't even cleaned mine, lol. I want to sell it but just haven't done it yet.

It has very minimal stains/dirt from my MK photoshoot. I see what some people are selling my same dress for and I can't believe the prices they want! It's crazy! I got mine on sale, paid $400 (it's $750 regularly), and didn't have it altered at all, the bustle broke during the reception so I just took the hook out. The dress is basically new (just need to clean it). I would probably ask $150-200 if I sold it on eBay or craigs list.

You could always donate it as well... the tax write off may be more worthwhile and you help someone in the process. Brides against breast cancer is one off the top of my head.

I would love to sell my gown and get some cash for it! I just didn't think there was a huge market for used wedding gowns..am I wrong?? Hmm, I wonder how much I should sell it for..any suggestions?

I bought mine from Ebay - so there are brides out there who are looking for their dream dress second hand. I knew exactly what dress I wanted and was really lucky that someone was selling it!

After our wedding I am donating mine to a friend who runs bridal fashion shows for charity. He is loaning me a hoop to take away with me so it seemed only fitting.

And, I dont mind sharing costs - new it was £1,250 I paid £405.
