:teeth: Hi All.
Hit a little snag in the vacation planning. My Mom now has no one to leave her little dogs with. :p The Houses I've narrowed my search to, don't accept pets and after hours of searching, it seems that very few 6 or 7 bedroom homes do allow pets. The ones I've emailed, either say they don't know why the site said they accepted pets, because they don't, or the few that do aren't available for my time period. Has anyone boarded their pets around Disney on vacation? Do you know of any good kennels or boarding facilities? I found one called Bass Pet Boarding that "looks" ok, but of course I really have no idea. What should I do? Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated, or if anyone knows of 6+ bedroom 4 bath houses that accept pets please let me know. Thanks so much. :earsboy:

Check with www.justfloridavacations.com.
We're using them in June and we're taking our dog.
It is a small rental company run by a lady named Karen. She actually owns some of the homes. The home we're renting is a 4BR in Rolling Hills. I noticed there was one 6 BR home listed. Don't know if it's what you're looking for but you can give it a try.
Good Luck!

Depending on where you are in Il. we have used Kennelwood for our dog and cats for several years now. There are several locations in the StL area. They can be expensive but I think they have taken very good care of our pets.

I'm not sure around WDW, but when we went to WDW I left my dog at home.
We put her up in a kennel here. That way if something happened to her they could take her to my vet.
Is there a reason they want to take the dog with them?
Please, I know, lots of people take their pets with them, but if you can't find a place to stay, you may need to look for a kennel at home.

When vacationing to WDW we always boarded our dogs at a good kennel, and had a cat sitter come to feed the cat.

Now as residents, last Christmas Day we boarded our two female dogs at the MK (TTC) kennel for the day.
One is a 100# (black lab). #2 dog weighs in at 70# (half cocker/half lab). And they need to be together in the same cage/room.
There was a cage that allowed this, but there was not a lot of room beyond that.
The cages in this kennel were stacked 3 - 4 high. The smaller dogs are housed on top.
They use a very basic, formed plastic type cage, with a metal slat front. Not unlike what you would see used as a pet carrier.
A metal bowl full of water clipped on the cage front was all that was provided. Pet owners need to bring their own items, such as blanket, chewers and toys.
There were a few outdoor cages, that I recall being fenced/cement block areas. The poor dogs outside that day looked miserable as the cold, rainy, drizzly weather. The dogs were protected by an overhang roof. There was not much protection or comfort really for those dogs that day. My dogs are indoor pets. They would have had a hard time, and probably felt punished.

We showed all our dog paperwork at check in. The CM told us they require ID/proof when guests come in to walk their dogs.
We never were asked for ID when we walked our dogs. And neither did we see any guest being asked for ID when coming in to walk their dogs. (And we saw several.)
That surprised us since last year Universal Studios got a lot of bad press after a dog was stolen from their kennel.
It was a little unsettling to see anyone being able to be buzzed in the back to walk a dog. And a lot of guests were using the facilities over night and they were arriving early in the morning to walk pets.

The facilities were clean, but they seemed to be short staffed, and service was on the slow side. But understandable, as it was Christmas Day. I don't think they staff these areas heavy, from what I have read on other posts.

It is nice to have the option of dropping off pets. Our girls are use to more of a grand (spoiled) scale of kennels. But they survived for the day. ;)

I was told the Disney kennels do not accept reservations. They operate on a first come first serve basis. There are 5 kennels at WDW. The prices are reasonable. At the Epcot kennel they will walk dogs, for an additional fee.

Good Morning,

Last April we boarded our chocolate lab at the Bass Pet Motel. It was about 10 minutes away from the Double Tree Suites on Orlo Bronson Highway. They were very nice there and my dog had a great time. You can find info at www.basspetmotel.com . I emaild them for info and the owner actually called me back!!!

Enjoy your trip,

Heidi :earsgirl:

Just a suggestion.
Check into a pet setting company.
Many will stop by daily feed water walk pets.
Check your mail, water plants, ect.
You can ask at Petsmart or Petco they usally have a few listings.
I'm lucky my Husband refuses to fly and doesn't like the rides.
So he stays at home with the pets.
I take off with are son and go have fun. :wave2:

Spicey, my cat - the one in the picture, goes to WDW with me often - he has been around 50 times.

he likes FW kennel. but I walk him 3 times a day (sometimes more often), I also feed him myself. So I know if he is eating or not.

I didn't like the offsite ones - because I like to take him for his walks and they all closed at 5:00pm -

WDW kennels stay open later and if you have a problem and can't take him during normal hours - the security guards will come and let you in after hours to walk your pet.

Spicey is 18 years old and has been going to WDW since he was 3 months old...
