A little more INFO on the MYW discount package

This is from the mousesavers website.

This would be great, as I've booked hoppers as well to our trip........... hopefully there will be more as well?? Even so, this will save us at least $240.00!!!!! I can hardly wait till Nov. 3rd!!!

http://www.mousesavers.com/packages.html#janmar

There's gotta be more to this. I mean, $80 in savings isn't bad, but it's certainly not enough to get anyone to plan a new trip, know what I mean?

If it is the same as the PIN code, the rooms were discounted a little, but not a lot. I'll hunt for the details in a second...

I"m hoping for more of a discount as well. As my earlier post stated I'd be saving $240.00 based on the amount on mousesavers, which I didn't read clearly, I was WRONG........... we didn't book the water park portion to the hoppers, so we'll actually only be saving about $85.00, which is better than nothing, but I agree with boomhauer, that really isn't enough to make someone plan a trip, if they weren't going already.

I mean every little bit helps, but, I'm waiting and hoping it's more!!!!

It will be more - I would bet my trip on it.

January through early February is Value Season, and they always have great discounts whether it be room only or package deals, during Value Season. There's always a discount off of the room. That's what gets people to stay on Disney property. The only thing worse for Disney than people not going to Orlando, is people going to Orlando and not staying on Disney property.

So, here's the PIN code math.

433 per person, double occupancy, 6 nights 7 days
866 total

The seven-day base ticket costs 212 per adult, and the hopper/waterpark-n-more options are free. Total of 424 paid for tickets, which leaves 442 paid for the room. That's 73.67 per night (and usually, package prices include tax), so the pre-tax room rate is 73.67/1.115 or just a shade over $66 per night.

This assumes that the "$433 per adult" does NOT include WDTC trip insurance. If it does, the room rate is lower.

But, if my assumption about insurance is correct, this room rate is not *quite* as good as the AAA Value Season room rate. If you are looking for a package with just MYW base tickets, the AAA package is a better deal by $20 or so. If you are looking for a package with hopping, waterparks, or both, the PIN code is a better deal, and potentially a much better deal.

I really hope you are right, and I'm guessing that you are!!!! I was just devastated when DH pointed out to me, that while any discount is good, that I hadn't read mousesavers correctly. We did book hoppers, but not the water parks, etc. We wouldn't do the water parks either way, but especially not in Jan. / Feb. it's too cold for our little one!!! I agree with you as well, that it wouldn't make me plan a trip if we weren't already going!!!

Keeping fingers crossed!!!!

This may be a bit much to figure out, but how does this break down going solo?

Can I still assume I'll be paying $73.67 a night for the room? If that's the case, then the room would run me $515.69 for 7 nights. Then, the base ticket would be $212 (and include hopping), which brings the total to $727.69 for 7 nights.

Is that correct?

of course, I don't have this pin code, so this is only going to work if they make this discount public.

I would guess that the room cost is the room cost, as long as not more than two adults are staying in it. So, I think you've got the right idea.

Again, this is assuming that the GP package discount (if it appears) is the same as the PIN code. Also, in keeping with tradition, this discount (about $13 off per night for Value rooms/Value season) is not as good as the AP discount ($20 off per night for Value rooms/Value season). But, you'd have to buy an AP that is almost as expensive as two 7-day base MYW tix.

It's hard to guess what happens when we switch to Peak season, because so far there are no PIN codes/AP rates after 2/15 to compare to.

I had one other thought: the waterpark that is open during this time frame (and I believe only one will be for the duration, unless Typhoon Lagoon returns from rehab earlier than 3/3) is going to be PACKED, just as the sit-down restaurants were stuffed to the gills in September/early October.

So, even if you planned on going to a waterpark, it will be much less pleasant. On the other hand, it will now be free.

Brian (or any other math whizzes): Can you give you your thoughts on my holiday:

Currently I have a Dec 31 (holiday rate) room only ressie at POP= $132 with tax
Then I have another room only ressie at POP for Jan 1-8 at value season with CAA 20% discount = $70.25/night inc. tax with discount.
In order to get the CAA discount, I have to purchase a CAA membership (about 40 US), therefore bringing my room only rate (Jan 1 - 8) to about $75.96 per night.

You mentioned that with the upcoming discount the value room rate works out to about $73.67/night.

We are planning on buying the 7 day MYW base tickets (765 US for 2 adults, 2 kids).
Therefore what opion do you think looks better,

Option #1:
Discount package (6 night, Jan 1-7)= 1210 (2 adults, 2 kids)
433 per adult, 172 per child
incs. hopping/water parks (not really interested in either since we want just 7 days in the parks)
extra night at POP (Jan 7) = $73.67 (if I can add one more night to the package without extra ticket days)
TOTAL = 1283.67 plus Dec 31 room only ressie (extra $132) total $1415.67

Option #2
keep existing room only rate Jan 1-8 at POP with CAA discount
$492.25 (70.25 per night inc. tax, 20% off rack rate)
CAA membership
$40
7 day base tickets purchased at check-in for 2 adults, 2 kids
$765
Dec 31 holiday rack rate at POP
$132
Total = 1429.25
difference between option 1 and 2= $13.58

Why I like option #1: for an extra $114 kids, $116 adults I would have the opportunity to upgrade the tickets to 10 day no expire and have 3 park days plus 5 water park days for next visit. (8 days works out to be around $15 per day)

Why I like option #2 : I could cancel at last minute if need be. With a package, I would have to pay some sort of penalty, wouldn't I?

Brian (or anyone else), in this case what do you think I should do?

Thank you
Suzy V.

I didn't check the math, but it looks about right to me.
I think you have to decide whether you want to pre-pay a future visit at a (steep) discount, or have the flexibility to cancel.
