A little hope for DisneyQuest

We just did DQ 2 weeks ago. Really I can take it or leave it. Bear in mind I'm a child of the 80s and spent my youth in arcades... so I'm quite biased... I was happy to play some of my classics, but still don't feel like it's all that. If it was still around, we would probably go again, *if* we got tickets that included +1 bonus thing like DQ. As a freebie it's great, but at $30 or $40 a pop, we would not take our kids as a family of 6 for $300. I think this is why it was closing... because it's okay as a free thing to do, but most people really wouldn't pay $40/person to go there as an afternoon thing to do.

DS (DTD) definitely needs something for kids... not sure what that is. They seem to be adding restaurant after restaurant. We, at least, can eat at one restaurant in an evening. We tried Raglan Road this last trip, which was fun! :) I am hoping they bring more kid-friendly fun to this massive DS they're building...

They already changed the AP's to not include it. I doubt they are going to keep it open as is now. And even if they did, it would require a lot of updating to make the place relevant again. I love going, but I would not pay full price, I have it with the AP. My guess is they are thinking of a way to keep an arcade going at DS for kids to have something to do, not keeping DQ open as it is.

Is the NBA going to use the whole building, or are they tearing it down and rebuilding? That is a huge place to have a restaurant. They said something about interactive experience, so the NBA place may have some games, like a D&B. I know I want to get bank to DQ one or two times before it closes.

We were very disappointed to hear that DQ is closing. In fact, with it being closed by our next trip in October, we will be skipping DTD/Disney Springs altogether. We would go through the shops and buy a few things, but our main reason to go there was DQ.

I agree, with Pleasure Island closed (no Comedy Warehouse or other entertainment) and now DisneyQuest closing there really isn't many reasons to go to Disney Springs other than shopping. and I would rather shop at the outlets!

I never got to see PI so I don't know what I missed. There is a lot of entertainment going on. Various singers and musicians as you walk around, plus House of Blues has some good stuff. I like the movie theater. I like eating at splitzville, but can't bring myself to pay $20 a hour to bowl. Not going to go to cirque du soleil that often but it is a good show. Many good restaurants. When the expansion is done, it should ease congestion. For me, it is still a nice night out.

As we exited DQ last Friday, we were stopped for a survey, which seemed odd since they are closing it. The surveyor said there had been a little talk of NOT closing it because of customer feedback - so now might be the time for that carefully worded email of protest. My husband is 63 (we were there celebrating his birthday, as a matter of fact) and I'm 52 and we love DQ.

I really hope they do keep it open!! As a family of gamers we love DisneyQuest. My daughter and I actually cried when we left in October. We have so many fun memories there.

My only issue with the place is I can never figure out how to get out of it. They have a couple dippy little elevators that take forever to get and the stairwells don't go straight down from top to bottom. You go from level to the next and then you have to search for the stairwell that goes down the next level. It's infuriating :headache:. That being said I'd way rather have DQ than some NBA thing. I still never got over losing the Virgin Mega store that was next door.

I am a gamer... and right now DisneyQuest is not at all a draw for me. It's horribly outdated. Disney would have to sink a lot of money into the place to make it worthwhile.

My guess is that DQ is still closing, but Disney is looking at maybe adding a smaller "arcade" type place to the area instead.

Various singers and musicians as you walk around

I can't remember if it was on DIS or another forum but I remember seeing this point about entertainment before. I agree, from what I've read there is a lot more live music at Disney Springs. But not everyone enjoys acoustic guitar music. What about other entertainment that isn't music?
I've seen La Nouba and it's a great show, but it's a $85+ treat and as you say bowling at Splitsville isn't cheap.

When it first opened you could have taken a slide down.

I LOVE DQ, but not for me, for my kids. DS14 HATES shopping so he would go to DQ while my mom and I poked around DTD, or Disney Springs now. Without DQ there I don't see us going back to that area. I guess if it closes, we will just be saving all that money we would usually spend shopping there!

I never ever got to go, we didn't even realise it was included in the tickets we had. The only reason I noticed was because it wasn't included in the 2016 UK tickets. I have watched some youtube videos about it and it looked cool.
