We are going down in three days, and we will be doing something new and exciting this time that we have never done at WDW...Laundry. We are staying at AS-Movies, and were wondering how convenient the laundry facilities are, the price, and whether or not we will have to stay up until the wee hours of the morning to get a washer and dryer. If anyone can offer any hints or advice, I am "all ears!!"

I has been a few years since I stayed at ASMoviles but my last visit we did laundry mid-afternoon and it was not crowded at all (same for POP, CBR, POR) as for convenience it will depend on the location of your room...Be sure and take your own laundry detergent because a small box there is rather pricey.

We were down in Oct, I went around 6pm and it wasn't crowded at all. Just 1 other lady in there with me.

I think there are 2 laundry areas....one by the main pool and one by Mighty Ducks pool...that is the one I went to.

Laundry soap IS expensive (I had tide free samples I got somewhere and brought my own laundry sheets in my suitcase).

I THINK (cause Ican't remember) it was $2 a washer and $2 a dryer? They have a coin machine in the room.

We were at ASMo in August and we also did laundry at the Mighty Ducks pool. It was $2 each for a washer and dryer and I also agree you should bring your own detergent and dryer sheets, as well as your own quarters. A few times the change machine wasn't working, so we were glad we had brought our own quarters.

Ya know...I knew I should have picked up a few Tide detergent travel packets this weekend at Target. :P I still have a few things to pick up before we leave though in 6 days...so I'll have to go pick some up. :D Dryer sheets we have...so all I have to do is go grab some and throw 'em in a plastic bag.

Best time to go is mid-morning. I always do laundry mid-way through the trip and have attempted it at all times of day. Trust me, around 9/10 am is the best time to do it if you don't mind missing out on the parks for an hour or two. I let the kids swim and go on from there. Usually I do it on a MK evening extra magic hours day, so you can go to the park late and stay late!

Definitely bring your own detergent and don't wash anything you count as precious, they're laundromat washers, so they can really fade some of your clothes.

We stay at Pop and when it gets toohot, we go back, get in our bathing suits and go over to the manin pool where the laundry is. We enjoy the pool while it's going and it gives us a much need rest in the heat of the day!!:santa:

We leave in 5 days, also staying at Movies and will also be doing laundry while there...so maybe I will see you in the laundry room! LOL!

I always use laundry as an opportunity to take a break from the parks (I tend to do a "commando" schedule otherwise!). Mid-week, I go to the parks until around 2:00, then head back and do a couple of loads of laundry and hang by the pool. I've never had to wait for a washer or dryer -- if you do two loads at once, it only takes about 1.5 hours total.

$2 wash and same for dry. I usually did it to RELAX for a while as it is right by the quiet pool at POR.
My only hint would be to clean out lint in dryer or it can take forever to dry atleast in summer time)

I brought packet laundry stuff (tide) at target, Like a dollar just cause I happened to see it near there travel stuff. I bought a few so actually just gave them away to some Dads that were there. YUP, dads rather than moms the night I went, that was NICE to see :rotfl2:

Have a great trip!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

We didn't stay at the AS Movies. We were at Music. Paid $2/load for both washer and dryer. Single use packs of Tide detergent was available at $1.25/each. Bounce dryer sheets at $1.25 for a box of 2 sheets. The dryers were good. All my clothes were dry in just 1 cycle.

step one: Put kids in the pool and laundry in washer
step two: Get one of those big fruity drinks from the pool bar and sit down with your trashy magazine.
step three: put clothes in dryer, wave at kids splashing in pool and have another fruity drink
Doing laundry has never been so relaxing.

My husband always volunteers to do laundry on vacation because that means he can go to the pool bar for a couple of beers.

For my trips, I always stop by the laudromat close to home at get my Tide. It is 50 cents a box for 2 loads:banana:

That is a good idea!!! I never thought of that! I just picked up mine yesterday at Target and it was $1 for a one load package. I was just happy to find the single load packets and not have to try to pack a whole bottle!

We take small bags of Tide, with Oxi Clean already mixed in. (One load per bag) Don't forget to take a collapsible hamper with handles. Wal Mart or Dollar General sell them.
I put dryer sheets on top of our packed clothes to help them smell good when they come out of the rarely used suitcases. Then I just use them as we go.
Have a great time.:laundy:

I love doing laundry on vacation...I hate having to haul home dirty clothes, and I can then wear my favorite, most flattering clothes more than once! We stay in a condo when we go to Florida, so when we get "home" the day's clothes go right in the washer. I bring powdered laundry detergent in baggies, some dryer sheets, and some Shout in a tiny spray bottle that sample hairspray came in. When I couldn't find powdered detergent, I put liquid in a small bottle and I had no leaks. Just an FYI for people who don't want to buy travel sized items. :)

Hehehe I like how you think! :thumbsup2

I think laundry is definitely in order on the next trip, with airlines charging $15+ a bag!!:sad2:

I would bring quarters and laundry deterget, and a small bottle of shout for stains.and an extra thooh brush for stains. Before you put the clothes in the washing machine check for stains and if there is a stain spray shout on ansd than with the thooth brush rub the stain and than spray the shout again and the pu in wahing machine but dont put in dryer just in case the stain doesnt come out and needs to be washed a second time.I dont like the tide to go stick cause it seems to be dried out and doesnt seem to work.I put the wash to be wash before we go to eat in the hotel resturant and than when we are doen eating the clothes are done washing and thna put in dryer. There is a sign saying how long the washing machine takes to wash and how long the dryer takes but for some reason the dryer takes longer and have to put more money in the dyer to get the clothes to dry.So I would bring extrqa quarters for the dryer
