Hi All,
We're flying Virgin from Mco then BA from LGW to Aberdeen on our return trip in Dec.
Does anyone know if VA still check your luggage straight through to Aberdeen?
They did this in 2004 and just wondered if anything had changed as we might have to change our homeward flight times if they don't do this anymore.
 :confused3

Thanx :)

I think if you are changing from Virgin to BA you possibly would have to check your luggage in again at Gatwick. I'd get in touch with both Virgin and BA to make sure.

We're flying with BA from Aberdeen to Gatwick then to Orlando International and vice versa in the return flight. No added charges between Aberdeen/Gatwick either way !! Works out a good deal we think.

I am sure that your luggage is checked all the way back for you return flight. It's aon the way from Scotland to Gatwick to Orlando that you have to check in twice. I hope you understand what I've just said:confused:

Thanx Zara,
last time we flew BA and VA the lady at DTD check-in said she would check our bags all the way through to Aberdeen even though we were flying with BA from LGW to Aberdeen, we didn't know before then that this could be done and just wondered if anyone knew if this was still possible?:confused3  Has anyone done this recently?

Hi Sue,
That's what we did last time as well:) but we're going PE with VA this time as we got a great deal  As you probably know, VA don't fly from ABZ-LGW:sad2: Yet.....;) Here's hoping eh?

Virgin staff at DTD booked them right through to Edinburgh with us in June 2005, on arrival at LGW the BA staff didn't have a problem when we showed them the luggage receipts (those things they stick on your tickets),
only problem now is that BA have changed their baggage allowances and domestic flights you only get 1x 23kg each, if you have more than that they may get a bit upset. They only waive this if you are travelling with BA all the way through,
Let us know how you get on I'd be interested to know,:thumbsup2

according to a friend who works for BA in Edinburgh Virgin arent supposed to book your bags right through because it creates an issue with who pays for the handling at Gatwick!!! Virgin have still been doing it fairly recently but they (BA) are trying to clamp down on it.
As to the luggage allowance - as long as you are holding an on going or incoming ticket BA will honor the larger allowance. What will happen on the routes that were BA connect and are being taken over its anyones guess.

Thanx for the info Mo and powerranger ;)
Much appreciated!:thumbsup2
