I'm a Disney expert but not so clued in about Universal. My new partner really likes Universal so I need some help.

My partner will arrive on a Friday night without me, and I have booked him at the Universal Loews Pacific Resort for one night. I will be arriving from a different city on Saturday and joining him mid day. We will begin a stay at the Grand Floridian Villas on Saturday night.

I am planning to join my partner at Universal on Saturday, including for Halloween Horror Nights on Saturday. Then we will continue with Disney on Sunday.

Here is my question: I will not arrive in Orlando until Saturday, almost certainly after my partner has checked out of his Pacific Resort room. Would I still be able to get an express pass unlimited if he comes to the front desk with me? Is he able to get the express pass credential for me when he checks in and physically give it to me? I know that a guest can get the pass on check in day and/or check out day but I will be arriving after check out time has passed. I'm not trying to game the system so if I need to just pay for an express pass, I can do that but don't want to do so unnecessarily.

Any help appreciated!

When your partner checks in he can get the room keys for both of you which is your EP, you need to be registered as a guest on the room for him to get the room key, but he can add you at his own check in if you`re not already on the reservation. So you won`t need to go near the hotel.

Apologies if you do know, but the hotel EP is not valid for HHN, only for the parks during regular hours.

Thank you! That is a relief.

Right, I knew about the HHN EP but am glad for the tip anyway. We will use the hotel EP for the day time. (And we are going to HHN in the evening with the separate express pass so we are set to have a good time!) We’ve never done HHN before and are looking forward to it.

You are very welcome and hope you have a wonderful time at HHN!!

Can I change subject for another newbie question?! 😂

If I buy a Seasonal AP, can I book a room (probs royal pacific) at the AP rate, and activate my AP on check-in day (in ~10 months next August)? I don’t want to buy the AP then discover it has to be activated in order to even book a discounted room.

We did this exact thing last Nov. Checked in then popped over to the vacation planning desk & picked up our APs - took only a few minutes.

Thank you both!!!

Okay another related newbie question. We’re expecting our 4th child next April. That’ll push us to fam of 6. Other 3 kids are > 3 years old. At Disney, our newborn wouldn’t count towards room occupany (i.e., we could book a 5 person 1 bedroom for example), but it seems like UO doesn’t operate that way? It seems like there are a decent number of rooms available for 6 and up….
