Hello everyone, hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday, :sunny:

I don't know if this has been posted before. I just got my vacation planning video/cd-rom, and I was a little disappointed with the resorts section of it, especially when it came to the Port Orleans. Why couldn't they do a seperate segment for the POR and the POFQ, like they did for the other resorts? I understand that they are sister resorts (and they did describe them each a little, under PO), but when I was tryng to show my mom, dh, and nieces pics using the CD Rom, the pics were kind of mixed up, so it was hard to know which parts were of the POR and which parts were of the POFQ. Did anyone else feel this way? :guilty:

I wasn't disappointed at all - in fact, I thought this DVD was heads and shoulders above previous WDW planning videos/DVDs. The last one I looked at (a couple of years ago). The ones I've seen previously didn't even address the resorts individually, so that was a nice surprise to me.

Thank you for your response, BuckNaked, :flower:
Most of the DVD and CD Rom, I did enjoy. It was just that part, especially when I was really focusing on the moderate resorts. KWIM?

I agree that it would have been nice to see more of the resorts. I would like to see more detail on each one if it is truly intended to be a planning video.

When I watched the first time, I thought the information on the parks felt frenzied. It's getting better as I have watched it more.

They should really have 2 different planning videos, 1 for the parks and 1 for the resorts.

....without totally cracking up.

You know those commercials about....uh...the pill...for guys. The ones with Bob....This is Bob....

The same music is in the dvd. I never would have noticed myself, but i was in the kitchen trying to cook and glance at the video (which by the way i managed to totally miss the resort sect must not have been much there) while my dd watched it and my ds ws coloring. Then suddenly my ds jumps up and yells "it's Bob it's Bob". I dont know if the guy looks anything like Bob, i havent paid much attention to the video or the commercial but when I came to see what he was talking about that music was playing and this man was walking then sat down on a bench. I Just about DIED. Too funny. Unfortunately permanently scorched in my brain is the combo DISNEY DVD/BOB.

I agree, this will be our first vacation and i would have loved to see more of por. :rotfl2:

I agree with the 2 video idea, I pretty much can figure out the parks, but when choosing a new resort, I want MORE info!!!--- pics - videos--etc!!

i agree...

i also think that the CD version of it could have been a little more detailed. Most of the information that you click on takes you to a link on disney's website. what about those that don't have an internet connection?

or even have more PLANNING materials on there. it would have been cute if you could create your own itinerary on there, etc.

but... all in all, the dvd and the cd were nice, and they did a good job with it.

My whole family thought, in the words of my 10yo,"This SUCKS! " It was Krista doing a Target commerical! The older planning video woud get us so geared up for the magic this was just annoying. ONe of these days the marketers will realize Disney insn't Universal and quit trying to make it "hip". Its an american icon and you would think in the 50 yr celebration they could have treated it as such.

Our family's collective opinion is that they tried to be cool, but are just annoying, in their overall tone of the DVD. We don't want to be entertained by lame jokes/hosts. Just show us more pictures of the resorts and their rooms/amenities. The 10-second "teaser" shots of the resorts are just plain irritating, not informative at all.

Maybe for a 1st timer? But, I guess we'll use the web sites to see still pictures of resorts we're interested in visiting.

I think it could have been MUCH shorter... although I was thankful when it got here. Let me explain why, we made the mistake of telling the kids about 70 days before the trip and they started watching the video nightly! Seriously it was fine the first 3 times, but then it got annoying, especially super perky Krista.

I also noticed that the POFQ was not shown !! I was a little upset about that especially since it is different from the POR. I was also upset with the little info given on the resorts. They kept building up on how great it is to be staying onsite and then very little about the resorts. I too would have liked actually pictures of the resorts, even if the hosts showed off the rooms, pools etc. I have to admit, it took me a little while to realize that the 2nd cd was a cd-rom not a dvd.

There may be a reason for Disney scrimping on the resort experiences. I recall receiving a brochure for the opening of EPCOT way back in the days of old. I held onto that lump of paper looking at it and studying it every day until we were there in person. Reality blew the high expectations I had aquired from the brochure right out of the picture. What if... the videos showed you everything the resort had to offer and left no "magical" surprises? .. uh... much like this forum does for us inquisitive ones ( ) ... well, anyway... The kids get a taste of what it will be like but not the full blown version. Leave that for the vacation :flower:

However, I must say, I order the videos every year and I'll have to agree that this is one of the best yet. I ~wish~ the travel channnel would tour the moderates. They do such a nicer job of showing the rooms and the area than the Disney video does. This doesn't say much for Disney's resort marketing department does it? LOL

I have watched both the video and the dvd and dont find either to be a "vacation planning" tool. Much more of an advertisement. I was actually worried about letting the kids watch thinking it might spoil some of the fun.
