Shame on all of you on the busses who do not give up your seats for women with babies. No manners and no courtesy.

And so it begins again.

First question...are you the woman with the baby or one of the people that got up and gave your seat to them?

Second question...when you make a blanket condemnation of people do you at least consider that some of the bad mannered, lack of courtesy folks might have problems themselves that aren't as visible as the baby thing. For example, if I see a woman with an infant standing on a bus at Disney my first thought is "what in the hell are you doing here with an infant?". Since I won't get an answer for that, I will probably offer my seat. In spite of the fact that I am 63 years old, my feet, knees and hips are screaming in pain from over use and I am as tired and cranky as any toddler you can find.

If, however, the child is big enough to stand on his/her own...my pain will override my concern. The point is that my problems are merely marginal...a lot of others that you are judging have more extreme problems and the lady with the baby probably has youth on their side. Because someone made the decision to have a baby and then bring it to Disney does not constitute rights to a seat. It's all on an individual basis.

Oh, another thing...if the aforementioned lady with baby looks at me like I'm jack the ripper or makes comments about how I should give up my seat on the bus or how I have no manners or courtesy...well, a gun to my head wouldn't get me to stand up. We get really stubborn as we age.:rotfl:

My husband will NOT be giving up his seat this trip everyone because he had hip surgery this summer ALTHOUGH you cannot tell by looking at him. Check in at the end of the week he may be on a scooter. He is 49 and looks great, but he will NOT be giving up his seat sorry.

Oh, oh! I remember this thread! Let's see if I can cover all the high points...

(Disney bus thread)
How dare you judge seated people on their apparent youth and fitness? You know every last one of them is suffering from a hidden disability (including sore feet from touring all day) which gives them more right to the seat than any woman and baby.

Not to mention, it's mum's own fault for not waiting for the next bus so she could have a seat. And anyway, babies don't belong at Disney, and if we don't make their mothers stand and hold them, how else are they ever going to learn what horrible parents they are???

It's downright immoral to enable bad parenting by offering mums and babies a place to sit.

Um, but what if he wants to? :confused3

Just thinking that my husband surely does not like being told what he will NOT do... And if he chooses to be courteous to a stranger in need despite being in pain, that's his right.

You know your husband best, of course.

Shame on women with babies who get on a full bus expecting a seat. Just wait for the next bus.

Do a search on giving up seats on the bus. You'll find dozens of threads that are pages long. Everyone has their own opinion on this.

Anyone is more than welcome to bring their infant to Disney, just as you are more than welcome to bring your 63 year old knees :)

That being said, I go to WDW about 3-4 times a month with my DH, and 2 year old DS, and the 8 month pregnant belly I'm carrying around. Often, no one offers me a seat on a bus or monorail and when they do, I usually decline. They waited longer for that seat than I did and having a child with me or being pregnant certainly doesn't make me disabled. I know it's easier for a woman with a baby to sit down and MUCH safer so I always offer my seat.. I do the same with the elderly as well. Just yesterday I gave my seat up on the monorail to an older woman who refused several times to have me stand up, but eventually I convinced her. The annoying part was the 5 or 6 teenage boys sitting comfortably in their seat with no concern for the older woman who obviously really needed a seat.

If we are on a full bus, my DH will always stand because he's able. It's just common courtesy and the way we were raised. It could be a woman without a baby and she would be offered his seat. I've done my share of standing on a bus with my baby in my arms, not being offered a seat, but it doesn't bother me. I don't expect a seat, but I will give mine up because it's the polite thing to do.

A little common sense goes a long way too. Do not get on a full bus and expect a seat. For this reason, I rent a car. Always guaranteed a seat.

Please remember, Disney is a family place and some disabilities cannot be seen. Plus, you don't know if some of those people sitting waited for a few busses before they could actually get a seat rather than having to stand. I have stood on a bus with a baby, and pregnant. Did not expect anyone to give up their seat - I was not disabled and perfectly capable of standing (and perfectly capable of waiting for another bus if sitting was important to me). People need to remember the WDW busses are mass transportation.

Maybe they ought to have a Fast Pass machine for buses......

I'm 63, and not giving my seat up...I waited for the bus, just like everyone else and have been standing and walking all day....you want my seat, get to the buses before me...or if you come later and the bus is full..wait for the next to get "your" seat......nothing entitles anyone a seat on a bus other than being there first.....you have children, you deal with them as best you can and not rely on others to feel for you....we did it when we have children and strollers and never looked to others for help or sympathy....yeah, I've given my seat away many a time in my younger years...feel I've paid my dues and now am entitled to the seat....do as you may...

Sure it would be nice. But face it, you can't expect it to happen. So maybe the women (and men) who are carrying babies might have to get a little proactive if they want a seat and wait for the next bus. And if you think it's terrible that the parents of babies have to be the ones to take it into consideration, then you have every right to think that, but it doesn't change anything.

They're all suffering from hidden disabilities. ;)

I was so happy to be at wdw with my baby I never worried about whether or not someone gave me a seat on the bus. Guess if that's the only complaint it must have been a good trip :thumbsup2

No one owes me anything -- I am responsible for my children and their needs, no one else. I will not willfully board a crowded bus expecting others to sacrifice their seat for me, when I could simply wait for the next bus -- they deserve that seat just as much as anyone else. This is Disney World not the real world, we are all on vacation. That said, if you choose to board a standing room only bus, we will offer our seats and stand so that you can sit -- even though we waited for the next bus. There are other options such as town cars/cabs, leaving early, staying late or renting a car. :)

Why do people get on crowded buses and expect others to get up so that they can sit down?

If you need a seat, wait for the next bus, rent a car, hop in a cab, or leave the parks earlier. :sad2::sad2:

Just pointing out, since a number of people have brought it up - it's not always easy to know whether there are any seats left on a bus. And once you've stepped through the door, you can't turn around and force your way back out through the crowd. You're trapped.

For someone bringing their bad knee or recent hip surgery to Disney - be warned! You may fully intend to secure a seat for yourself, but nothing's guaranteed.
