A little confused...

Please help. I am having a hard time with figuring out how to get a good deal on a car. I just ordered the entertainment book, so am waiting to see what kind of discount I can get with it.
In the meantime, I have tried my Costco membership #, my AMA #, my International Student ID #, and am still not getting the same deals as everyone else! I don't really understand how to use all the discount codes and coupon numbers. It is kind of overwhelming.
The dates I want the car are Aug 25 - Sept 6, and am getting rates at $500+. Can anyone give me some advice?
I am at the point where I'm getting kind of frustrated and I need hints. Mousesavers is fine, but I can never seem to get the codes to work - do I need to call personally, or can I book over the internet??

You can do it over the internet; I find the easiest way is to open 2 windows, one with Mousesavers, one with the renatl company, and plug in all the codes, coupons, etc. and get the quote. If you don't like the quote, go back to the start, punch in some different codes, and try again (I've heard with national you may have to clear your cookies).
Putting in membership number isn't going to help you; you need to have some kind of contract number, coupon number from the association you are using; usually they come on a coupon, in a magazine, or from a newspaper ad.

You didn't say what kind of car you're looking for, and it is for 16 days.
If you're staying on site, you may want to split in into 2 rentals, and take a couple of days off from driving.
