When we first bought points with BLT, the only two available were AKV, and BLT,,

SO, if we want to add points @ a different resort, which resorts are available?? :confused3

If you are only talking about buying direct from Disney...

Disney is selling all resorts, but you may need to be on a wait list until they can ROFR the points for the resort/UY you need.

All of them if your willing to purchase resale. They are also available through Disney if you're patient, but they will be more expensive.

But note that you will have to pay closing costs if you buy resale (unless the seller agrees pays these) but not with an add on direct from Disney... and many times small contracts for certain resorts are hard to find resale or more expensive since they are in high demand..

What resorts are you interested in?

After weighing thr pros and cons, we recently made our add-on purchase direct through Disney. They do cover the closing costs, and were were able to obtain points for the 2008 use year which they graciously allowed us to bank...even though we were past the official banking deadline. In addition, the interest rate is lower on an add-on purchase (10.75% vs. 14.25%) than on the original contract. If you're paying cash, obviously, then this isn't an issue.

Be very careful if you decide to purchase resale. Many times you will be paying dues for points that you will never receive, such as the current use year, and you may not be getting the maximum number of points that you would direct from Disney.

You certainly want to check carefully what you are buying and weigh the pros and cons. The Timeshare Store (sponsors of this forum) has a very helpful short description of each contract that they are offering for sale which will tell you how many points are currently available, when the next batch of points is coming, if annual dues are not due until 2010, etc.

In the interests of full disclosure, I am not associated with The Timeshare Store, but I am selling some points through them, so could be considered to be less than 100% impartial on this matter ;) In my case, almost two thirds of the points for the current use year are available, while less than half the annual dues will need to be paid by the buyer for that same use year. I am also looking to buy at a different resort, and am definitely considering buying resale. In the end, it will come down to costs, since availability (resale or direct through Disney) is not an issue at the resort I am interested in.

Hope this helps,
Mike

So if I were to call Disney to buy an AKV 50 point add on, would that already be available (not need to wait for an ROFR)? If so, what UY would that be? And, would it (with the current incentive) be $102 out the door with no other fees? (Oh, I have BWV, not AKV)

Thanks

should be available, unless they are out of a specific UY month.

it will match your current UY month.

i think so, yes. zero closing costs.

Yes, if you buy direct from Disney, you can get a 50-point AKV for $102/point (based on the current incentive schedule). There are no closing costs and the points would be in your account with hours, available for making reservations almost right away. In addition, Disney will give you the same UY as your current contract, and have it titled the same way as your current contract. If you have a February, March, April, June UY, or September, then you'll probably get only 2009 points. If your UY is October or December, you might get 2008 points, too. But you'll need to check with Disney to be sure.

Good Luck!
