Some background: We are a couple without childen, members since 2001, in our late 40's. As we look forward to the future and hopefully more time to travel i am wondering what other tmeshares are comparable from a quality perspective compared to DVC. We couldbuy a vacation home, but don't want to feel tied down to one location. We will continue touse our DVC, but might want to branch out and add another timeshare. Thank you all in advance. :))

I suggest you join tug2.net. It is a timeshare users group. Lots of great info and advice. Some of the different options that I feel are similar (or better) quality to DVC include Starwood (Sheraton), Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt timeshare programs--and each has pros/cons. And, or course, there are many more.
One important thing to consider is whether you want a fixed week (which you could trade via RCI or II when you don't use it), a week in a flexible band (such as a summer, spring/fall week), or you want straight points. Also, some timeshare systems are strong in certain locations--such as Hilton in Hawaii, Marriott in Hawaii, Aruba, St. Thomas, Hilton Head, Hyatt in Key West, etc.
You will find virtually all of your answers over on TUG. Elaine
