First thing Neil Young wrote that I agree with.

As for 9/11 and Saddam, who on these boards can prove that Saddam is not or is connected to terrorism???

Besides, you don't really think that Barbra Steisand sings factual
events in her songs? Or Madonna? Or the Dixie Chicks?

If so than who do you think "that's why the lady is a tramp", Memories, People, Like a Virgin, etc. ???? That would be a good thread....

Those who were saying that celebrities should keep quiet and take their view points elsewhere, only mean the celebrities that they don't agree with? So, it's NOT a celebrity thing after all, it IS a point of view thing. Otherwise, if a person really meant that celebrities should stop opening their mouths, stop speaking their minds, stop using their celebrity status to speak on issues, it wouldn't matter which celebrity said what. (I'm not saying that anyone on this thread said those things, but those are things I've read on the CB.)

Frankly, I openly listen to all people and all points of view, I just don't agree with some of the things said. I think all celebrities AND all non-celebrities have the right to their own opinions and they have the right to voice those opinions. I don't think one celebrity has more right than another, nor do I think one non-celebrity has more right than another. I also have the right to agree or disagree. I don't think I have the right to tell anyone they should be quiet, no matter what their point of view is.

Celebrities are paid to read (or sing) lines off of a piece of paper and add feeling to it. That is the value I set on them. NOTHING MORE.

This letter sounded too good to be true, so I went over to snopes to see if the letter is genuine. And it is.

Apparently I'm not the only skeptic because the Charlie Daniel's letter is the number one search on the urban legends website as of today.

As far as freedom of speech, I want to know how I can get on television in front of an audience of millions and give my opinions on the war in Iraq (or anything else for that matter). Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion here in the good old US of A, but it's a question of whether or not it's correct to use a public forum to express that personal opinion.

Of course, that's just MY opinion.
