A kinda Dumb question about park hopping

I have always bought Ultimate Park Hoppers before. I have been talking to people and now I am really confused. With the new ticket choices (MYW) you can add on Park Hopping, I know this.

Here are my questions:

1) Can I buy a 7 day pass w/o PHing and then only go to the parks 3 days but use 6 of of the "Days" on my pass (going to 2 parks each of the 3 days we are there)?

Here is an example because I know it makes no sense. Say Day 1 I got to MK and then that night we want to head over to MGM. I know that we already used 1Day (6-remaining on our passes) at the MK. Can we (on the same day) go to MGM and use another day (5-remaining on or passes)?

2) If we don't have the PHing option on our tickets are we still allowed to leave the park (say MK) in the middle of the day, go back to the hotel, and then come back to MK? Or do we have to stay IN the park the entire day?

I know these are pretty stupid questions, but I have never had the chance to get non-park hopping tickets before.

Thanks,

There are no stupid questions. :D

1) No, according to Mary from Mousesavers, you cannot Park Hop with the new tickets unless you have the Park Hopping feature. Using two days to Park Hop will not be allowed.

2) Yes! Just make sure you have your hand stamped when you leave.

Have a wonderful day! :flower1:

Why wouldn't that just count as 2 days off the pass? What will the parks do, turn you back, saying "You can't come in 'til tomorrow?" I'm not shooting the messenger :) just confused.

As per MouseSavers.com:
Note: I have been asked if you could buy, say, a 10-Day Base Ticket and use it as a 5-Day Hopper by visiting two parks per day. The answer is no. You can only use one admission per day with the new Magic Your Way Base Tickets. So you really can't use them as Hoppers unless you buy the Park Hopper Option.

It sounds from what I've read that yes, they will just turn you away. The ticket will show it has been used THAT day and in which park. If you try to go into another park, it still reads the ticket as THAT day. Maybe the computer isn't smart enough to figure it could just grab another day??? Don't know why, but I've read in several places that it can not be done.

From the Magic Your Way ticket FAQ in the "Theme Park Strategies" Forum...

If I have a ticket that does NOT allow park-hopping, can I just use another day from my ticket to get into a different theme park?

No - you won't be able to that. If you want to know why read on. But I warn you - it gets a bit technical. Just a bit though.

The ATS ticketing system is designed to look at your admission in terms of number of days, and whether or not your ticket has park-hopping. It does NOT look at your admission as number of times through a turnstile. For example, if on Monday you went to the Magic Kingdom with a non-park-hopping ticket, and later on Monday evening decided to go to Epcot: when you put your ticket in the turnstile at Epcot, the computer's internal monologue would read something like: "This ticket has been used today. This ticket has NOT been used at Epcot today. This ticket does not allow park-hopping." It then would not release the turnstile.

Hope this helps,

That's why we're here. :grouphug: You know how long it takes to make sure everyone understands, and can explain changes that are happening...but most of the information you get here has been checked...and rechecked (or question/requestioned) through various sources. I thank God for DIS...always someone to ask, and there are no dumb questions. :flower1:

You know eeyorelor why don't you just get a price from Dreams Unlimited on the Home page (I haven't used them yet because we brought DVC but several poster have good things to say) ....and there is a poster who is an expert on AAA...I just don't remember her name (hopefully someone will). Also MAry at www.mousesavers.com has a whole thing on AAA and tickets. Print it out, so you can say "according to the information I have" Mary and Deb's (www.allearsnet.com) sites are wonderful. You are being so patient....at least it seems like you have a little time before your trip. Good Luck. I would try and book the room AAA discount, and get your tickets where you feel comfortable (look for suggestions at the above sites). But have fun.
