I agree with SSR SAP for some and I have one too, but I see it as a supplement for me because $$$.

If I had all SSR I could work with that too, but not everyone wants to put in all that effort and stalk like crazy cuz they need to stay somewhere over a week and feel disappointed because its not avail at 7 months.

I do not agree with the people that say if you have SSR you need to worry that you will be stuck there an entire trip and should therefore avoid. At least not as this point in time before 2042's expire. There will be availability at other times if you plan ahead. And if you're going to buy SSR SAP, i highly recommend people to be a one bedroom person, which we are.

People need to decide what is best for them.

If money isn't an issue, I think people should get their 11 month priority and buy where they really want to stay

I was in talks with someone from DVC direct and even with incentives for 150 points was over 30k! Not sure if that’s a deal

In two years it will be. Prices just grow every year

looking into price differences between BLT and SSR is about a $7000 difference to buy the same amount of points. I’m beginning to think it’s a no brainer to just be happy to stalk 7 months out for something….I’ve done it for years at RCI.. I’m actually quite good at it.

I saved $11,000 buying SSR over BLT for the same amount of points. Zero regrets here

You don't have enough points for that, but you do have some BRV points already...

Buy more BRV points that allow you to do that year after year...

Once you have that, buy more points...

I have told people, once you have enough points for the unit size you want, for the duration you want - that's when to diversify.

On another note...

Though I understand the appeal of CCV on paper, I found myself thinking that could not be a worse resort for you to buy as a second resort...

Yeah I don’t really see the sense in owning two different home resorts, but yet in the same location and while I love BRV I’m not crazy about the converted CCV

Lower points = higher demand within the DVC system. Look at early May compared to other spring months. It doesn't matter that it's hotter, rainier, and lovebug season. Early May is cheaper.

If you're looking for a one-bedroom Jan to April outside of Easter week you will probably have a good chance picking up different resorts. The only caveat is when using SAP you tend to book more expensive room views so you use more SAP than direct points. Comparing something like SSR and VGF may be a lot different than SSR and BLT.

If you're borrowing half you won't have a full UY allotment the next year. Borrowing half from the next UY will only give you 160 points total again. You can borrow all of them, but then you have 0 points for the next UY.

No you are not correct.

It will work for awhile but then you won’t have enough.

I’m just using 2030 as an example because all of your points should still be there.

2030 you borrow 80 points from 2031 and now have 240.
2031 you start with 80 and have to borrow 160 from 2032 for 240
2032 you start with 0 and can borrow 160 from 2033

Well-Ive been told to buy where I want to stay. Are you saying now I should buy what is better financially? In that case, it’s Saratoga springs and we all know it. Lower buy in and one of the cheapest annual fees. Copper creek seems to be the same point wise and fee wise as BLT and I’d rather stay at BLT

Sometimes you just look past the “numbers” and buy on the feeling that the purchase provides. I can’t bring myself to buy Saratoga even though the calculator points me in that direction, because I grew up vacationing in Saratoga Springs, NY and DVC will always be “fake Saratoga” to me I bought BRV standing in Walt’s train room … I literally called the broker standing there because my father collected trains and every time I step in that room it brings back memories. I bought direct (VGF during the fire sale) because my calculator said “BUY NOW!” - every purchase has had a different motivation.

Welcome to the stage of DVC where you go back and forth many, many times on what the best strategy is. I think you've gotten a lot of good ideas for differing strategies, and you just have decide which one you want to pick. And, sometimes the deal you can get on a particular contract might influence which direction you end up going. I originally wanted BLT resale, but ended up going CCV because that is where I found some really good deals.

I’m staying at BW in January ..maybe I’ll love it enough to buy.. I went there in 2010 and wasn’t crazy about it (The theme) but I’ve heard they refurbished. We do love the animal kingdom as well..in fact when we went to BW all those years ago we hated it so badly we tried switching to AK lol

What about Beach Club if you're not a BW fan? I believe in buying based on area, you already have MK covered with BRV, you don't care about 2042 expiration and plan to keep it until the end, BCV could cover the Epcot area for you and have a valuable home resort priority. Who knows what the future might bring as well with health and etc and it may be a God send to get back more easily to your room from HS/Epcot

OMG. Just buy direct VDH.

1. Resale value will be through the roof by the time you want to sell because the restrictions won’t matter for a CA resort.
2. You want the perks. And if you think you don’t, you’re not being honest with yourself.

If you want extra resale buy SSR.

1. It’s just a no brainer.
2. How often do people really use that 11 month window anyway? Or use it and stick with it? Let’s be honest, the entire DVC timeshare should just be called DVC slots (credit to @VGCgroupie).
