A hypothetical situation

True. That’s why I bought BW because I love it. BRV and CCV are almost twins it’s not like being stuck at OKW, they are literally a 1 min walk from lobby to lobby. So buying CCV isnt bad advice. As for the 2nd purchase we dont know what OP loves other than BRV.
I’m staying at BW in January ..maybe I’ll love it enough to buy.. I went there in 2010 and wasn’t crazy about it (The theme) but I’ve heard they refurbished. We do love the animal kingdom as well..in fact when we went to BW all those years ago we hated it so badly we tried switching to AK lol

I won't name a specific property, but I'll leave my advice at "diversify". That way, you'll have 11 month access at two different hotels. And if you use all your points at one property when booking at 11 months, just bank/borrow properly and use the points at the other hotel.

I’m starting to come around to CCV..or BLT..I’d be happy staying at all of these places if I had to
BLT has amazing rooms. The BLT lobby is quiet. Some see a downside of having to go through Contemporary to get to the monorail and food. The walk to MK is a key selling point and some rooms have amazing views. BLT is a great location. For me I decided I wanted BW even though it expires in 2042. I wanted to own MK resort and Epcot resort to alternate trips going to MK/AK and Epcot/HS. I don’t like buses.

We are only two people but sometime we may want to include others..but regardless I don’t ever want a studio..0ne bedroom at least. I also like preferred rooms. We are older 55.. that’s why I don’t mind the 2042 contracts.
Hey! Who are you calling "old"? (57 myself)
No worries. I highly recommend you get the app, "DVC Calc". That allows you to calculate point demand for any "what if" scenario you can imagine. 1BRs have full kitchens and laundry facilities - IMHO worth the added point demand alone so you don't need to convince me, not to mention, much more availability. My family (party of 3-5 depending on if my college age kids can join us) have really come to appreciate being close enough to the parks to take mid-day breaks (especially without waiting for a bus), but if you don't mind driving and like Saratoga you can save money on the price for points and maintenance fees by buying there. For us that's a non-starter but a lot of people do like staying there so to each his own.

Well that is what "Buy where you want to stay" really comes in.

Don't buy Grand Floridian if you wouldn't be ok staying there just like not buying SSR if you don't like it (which according to the other post you don't)

Take the 112 points you have to use by August and book something and take a summer trip. I don't think you need to add on right now without visiting these properties first.
There is plenty of time to add on later even if you are going after a 2042 resort.

For us the only downside to BLT is the pool, even the one at CR is blah

Our age plays a factor too with 2042, BRV vs CCV. Financial & Heart purchases but easier to go BRV being at age of wisdom. I absolutely love BRV over CCV. Have been lucky to stay in both locations. Lodge is spectacular.

My first purchase was at age 54 in 2020. I don’t care about the legacy I leave & selected my first resort to be resale BCV. Live for the now and not worry about what will be in 2042.

Hopefully I can get in one of those properties by August!

Someone should own enough points at their preferred home resort to book the room category they want at the time of year they want to go. Only at that point should the diversify; IMO.

It seems to me that the BRV people are very much BRV people…. @ClaraOswald

Yep. Thats why its hard to tell someone that has a feelings on something that its not the best financial choice. As we both know with BWV. My best financial choice was clearly adding on to my CCV but I had to go BW even though it cost me more money in the long run. I am very glad I took my trip to visit all the resorts. This board really had me thinking before my first purchase that SSR was the resort I should buy and AKV a runner up, I even made offers on SSR and AKV... boy that was the worst advice for me personally. Thats when my spreadsheet came to fruition and led me to CCV and the initial buy in price became less of an issue. I bought without going there but I knew it heavily leaned like VGC. I got very lucky. I have had a many smart DVC resale purchases and CCV is one of the top ones.

Now that I think about it I was being stubborn when you told me when I was making my choice of what resort to buy I needed to buy a DL resort. I didn't want to hear that. I made excuses to you why I didnt. Turns out you a DVC veteran was right and me the novice was wrong.

But if someone only wants 1 bedrooms, loves their home resort, and doesn’t have enough points at their home resort to stay in 1 bedrooms…. and BRV is not at BCV level pricing….

So all of these I see on your portfolio, you regularly stay at? Or do you use the points from them? Out of all the DVC places I’ve stayed at BRV has been my favorite but I do want to stay at all , just to have variety. I’m sure each and every one has hidden gems, even SSR has something going for it, OKW has a lot of space, etc.

I was just pointing out that the board isn't always right. And if one has strong convictions on what they like which OP does, then the only person who knows what they should buy is them. I don't think OP should buy BCV, never said that.

Well since BRV really only has points for 16 years that gives you 3 years to stay at the resort along with visiting the rest of the O14.
