Welcome, Disney Lovers, young and younger! ;)

First off, a big thank you for somehow gathering up an interest in my unorganized ramblings, and humoring me with your audience! This is my very first trip report, and I'm excited to have you along for the ride! Apologies ahead of time are issued for the token rants, random spurts of excitability and all-around messy bliss. Hey, I'm the bride! It comes with the territory.

.:Cast:.

Nyla - Me! I'm 24 years old, born and raised in Southern California, and grew up on all things Disney. I currently reside in Nashville, TN with my fiance. More on how all that came to be later. I'm emotional, stubborn, a bit irrational at times, but fun-loving and good-natured for the most part. I work in Human Resources in the corporate office of an IT staffing firm. It's not exactly what I imagined for myself career-wise, but it's a job. And let's face it. Any job in these times is a blessing. I plan to return to school for forensic pathology once the fiance completes his degree.

DFH - Fiance! DFH turns 24 next month, and it's a running joke with him that I'm robbing the cradle. Like a whole two months really makes a difference? He was born and raised here in Nashville, and is working towards his degree in IT Programming. He currently holds a job as a Systems Administrator for an office supply company based here in Nashville, and is considering joining the military once he completes his education. He makes me so proud :lovestruc, and inspires me to better myself every day. I can honestly say he is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He's funny, intelligent, and has a huge heart. Of course, he's also sarcastic to a fault, and loves to give me a hard time.

.:Scene:.

DFH and I will be married on September 6, 2009 in California, in a pretty little country club, yada yada. But what everyone really cares about is the honeymoon! After all, people don't come here to hear about silly wedding details (and frankly, I'm tired of talking about them)! They want the Disney details (which I will never tire of talking about)! And I am here to give 'em to ya!

We will be staying on-site from September 7, 2009 - September 14, 2009, at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Savannah view, baybeh!

(Also, please excuse the strange spellings I use at times. I realize it can be irritating, but in my excitement, I sometimes use them. I have a lot of growing up to do. :rolleyes1)

We were ecstatic when free dining came out, although because DFH -loves- to eat we have kept our Deluxe Dining reservation. I keep going back and forth on this, really wanting to downsize, but I think he is seriously stoked over the idea of all this food. Now don't get me wrong. I can put a Subway footlong away, no problem, and my co-workers often tease me about the amount of food I can eat. But the sheer thought of three sit-down credits a day, make my stomach hurt just a bit. When it comes to theme parks, I really don't eat much minus the occasional snack or hot dog now and then. But DFH, for some reason, really wants to try all this food.

...I suppose I shall humor him, seeing as he's allowing me to plan the wedding of our -almost- dreams. I say -almost- because we're paying for everything ourselves, and I can guarantee you, if either of our families had opted to pay for this shebang, we'd be getting married on a glass yacht off the San Diego beaches. Being as the wedding and honeymoon are all on our budget, I figure I can relax a little and allow ourselves to gain a gazillion pounds on the honeymoon.

You do walk it all off, right?

See, that's the other little catch to all of this. Neither of us have ever been to Disney World. Ever. Sure, I've frequented Disneyland more times than I can remember, but the idea of being in a world of happiness and glee and Disney....it's almost enough to make me want to cry with happiness. So we really have no idea what we're in for. We've never been to Florida, so all this talk of Super Humidity and his side-kick Hurricane Happiness....yeah it all falls on deaf ears. Seriously, at this point, after all the planning, saving, and figuring out how we're going to make all of this work , nothing can destroy our excitement.

Nothing.

Not even stupidworkwhocomplainedforthepastmonthaboutnotwantingtogivemeallthattimeoffformyhoneymoon!

:upsidedow

So this will truly be a Honeymoon of firsts. First trip to Florida, first trip to Disney World, first real vacation together....first marriage? Ha. I kid, I kid.

.:Story of Us:.

In all seriousness, both DFH and myself are completely committed to making this marriage work. My parents both came from divorced homes, and it absolutely tore them apart. They made a vow to each other, that they would never put their kids what their parents put them through. They've had a lot of rough times, but 24 years later, they're still going strong and love each other very much. I made a promise to myself a long time ago, that when I get married, it will be to the person whom I know, without a single doubt in my mind, that I will be with forever. I refused to allow myself to walk into a marriage with the idea I could get divorced if things didn't work out, and surprisingly when DFH and I talked about marriage in the beginning, he had made the same promise to himself. Yay!

Okay, soapbox rant over. I promise I don't go on tangents a lot.

Honestly.

DFH and I met through mutual friends while on a short trip to Las Vegas in 2006. This was not a vacation, as it only lasted four days, and I'm sorry, but four days is no vacation. It is a long weekend. :snooty:

Anywho.

It was a great weekend! Full of losing money on blackjack tables, drinking too many margaritas, and making some great friends! At the time, I was dating someone else whom I had accompanied on the trip, and DFH was one of his friends whom had flown in from Tennessee. DFH and I became close friends, and absolutely nothing more. After the trip, my boyfriend and I at the time hit quite a few roadblocks, and decided that our relationship wasn't satisfying either of us any longer. We broke it off, and that was that.

A few months later, DFH and I decided to meet up in Seattle for a four-day weekend to visit some friends. This time, we realized there was more than a friendly spark between us, and the rest was history. We dated for more than a year, doing the long distance thingamajig, before we decided to move me closer to him. It was hard leaving my parents and siblings....harder than I ever thought it would be. :sad1:

On June 25, 2008 he proposed.

So here we are. Four months out from our wedding, and ready than ever to get this show on the road!!

Until next time!! :flower3:

Count me in! The first time we went to WDW, we thought this would be a one time thing. But, honey, let me tell you, we fell in love and have been back twelve more times. Trip number 13 is in just 77 days!

Lookin' forward to reading more.

A WDW newbie? :) Yay! I'm in for your ptr! Great start so far!

A newbie in every way! I'm terrified of the upcoming ADR adventure, and have requested to take the day off of work, in order to get whatever restaurants we decide on! Is that....bad?

Oh, I don't doubt that this will be our last trip! Disneyland is a requirement whenever we go home to California, so I'm sure after this Disney World will become a mandatory destination every other year or so. I'm happy to have you on board!

Bad? Never! Haha, this is going to be my first foray into making ADRs for more than just one or two meals as well. This trip is the third that I have planned myself, but before I got on the Dis, I didn't have a clue about when to make your reservations, and being up at 7am calling the WDW-DINE! :) It is quite an adventure!
