Hey there, I had intended to post about this when we got back from our trip in Feb and just completely forgot. I know I posted to say we really enjoyed our stay as it was wonderful as always, but the thread about keys not working in various hotels reminded me what happened.
Soon after arriving in our villa, we decided to go for a walk. The kids wanted to see the pond in back so we left out the door by the porch. When we got back, after not only having a walk but getting in the car and going to the grocery store, we went to the front door and our keys did not work. Oh, boy.....we tried several times, but nothing. So, off DH went to the main checkin building. Came back and put in his key. No luck. However, it suddenly occurred to me. I asked DH to go try his key in the porch door. Sure enough, it opened right up and he came and let us in.
What happened is that we had the bolt lock on the front door and had simply walked out the back, so the key would not work in the front. I went out the front door to test my theory with DH standing inside so he could let me in if it didn't work, but without the lock turned, it opened just fine.
So, beware! Do not lock yourself out. Or if you do, remember to go around to the porch and save yourself a trip across the resort!!
