A Happy Anniversary in Disney without the Kids? No way that could be fun, right?

Day 1 - Part 1 - Magic Kingdom

Okay, so if you go to bed after midnight, after an already long and tiring day with a 6:30a.m. wake-up call . . . does it mean you're old if you're awake before the call even comes???? OF COURSE NOT!!! It just means that you are in the happiest place on earth on the first day of a trip you've been planning for months!!!!! Phew . . . I'm tired just typing that! ;)

So, here we are. Our first park day! Brandon and I were both awake a good half hour before our wake-up call. I went ahead and started getting myself ready - I know this is cheesy, but I was really looking forward to only having 1 person to get ready every morning during our trip! I took my time primping (as you'll soon see I take A LOT of pictures of myself!!!) for all of the fun photo-ops I was hoping for during the day. B and I were dressed and ready with time to spare and surprisingly so were David and Kim! :woohoo: Their room was next to ours so we knocked on their door on our way out to find them both ready to go!

WDW008.jpg

Here's Kim and I outside of our rooms. (We both love to see ourselves in pictures, so there are tons of pics of the 2 of us - I've eliminated some of them from the report just because it's really quite obnoxious :upsidedow )

WDW010.jpg

The weather was a little cool this morning, but we knew that it would soon warm up. It was about 7a.m. as we walked past the Hippy Dippy Pool toward the food court

WDW009.jpg

Kyle and Christy soon joined us as we were nibbling on a bite to eat. By the time we all sat down at a table, it was already 7:15 so we told Jason and Katie to go ahead to MK without us and we would be along shortly. Katie had never seen the rope drop ceremony so she wanted to be sure and catch it since this was our only MK day. The rest of us finished our breakfast and walked out to the bus stop. I was quite surprised to find the line empty since MK was having EMH this morning - was this a good sign of crowd expectations for the day????? Hmmmm . . . I'd bet you'd love to know, right? ;) Our bus ride was full of chatter. Everyone was so excited to be heading to the "Princess Towers". (That's what our little 4 year old cousin calls the Magic Kingdom) Here are some pics from the ride over.

WDW073.jpg

We arrived at MK with about 10 minutes until rope drop and quickly found Jason and Katie. Wow, what do we do with 10 minutes to kill??? I know!!! Let's take pictures of each other!!! :woohoo:

OMG it's time!!!!

Kim LOVED the show!

WDW088.jpg

We enterred through the tunnel on the right and followed the herd up Main Street

WDW094.jpg

Continued . . . .

. . . continued . . .

Our first destination was Space Mountain so we walked quickly toward Tomorrowland

WDW096.jpg

WDW098.jpg

WDW099.jpg

WDW100.jpg

After a short few minutes we saw this . . .

WDW101.jpg

The posted wait time said 10 minutes, but it was actually just the amount of time it took us to walk through the line and get on the ride - it was AWESOME!!!! Here's Jason and Katie getting ready to "launch":

WDW107.jpg

The ride was everything I could have hoped for - dark, fast, intense, organ-jarring . . . sigh . . . I just love this ride!

After our tour of space, we headed toward Fantasyland. On the way Kim got all excited about the restaurant that beheld her beloved rotissierie (sp?) chicken from the '07 trip - she loudly proclaimed "THERE'S MY LUNCH!!!!" as we passed it

WDW108.jpg

In Fantasyland, we walked straight into a showing of Mickey's Philharmagic - everyone loved it as always

WDW109.jpg

After the show, we headed toward Adventureland - gasp - no Peter Pan? No IASW? No Honey Pots???? Nope! We skipped by those puppies and kept a walkin'! Not that we aren't fans of fairies, creepy dolls, and pooh bears, but we had bigger things in mind. Onto the big kid stuff!!!! :dance3: There was still a few minutes before the rope drop, so we took a quick potty break while we waited. (Okay, so why wouldn't Adventureland open for a.m. EMH???? Am I the only one that found that strange???)

WDW112.jpg

WDW110.jpg

Anyhoo, our first stop was POTC, which had no wait, then we headed on to the Haunted Mansion - one of my favs

WDW113.jpg

WDW114.jpg

We only waited like a half a minute before going in, but what did our iPhone addicts do with those 30 seconds . . . .

WDW117.jpg

Okay, so I'm not sure exactly when, but at some point we stopped at David's fantasy home - Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. I had tackled it the year before in flip flops, so I excused myself from this little venture - Brandon and I shopped at the cute little "islandish" shop across from SFRTH while the rest went up - oh, and I think Jason and Katie stayed with us? Did you Katie? Anyhoo, here are some pics from Kim's camera of their venture

WDW038.jpg

WDW039.jpg

WDW040.jpg

WDW041.jpg

Oh, and Katie took this way cute pic of me and B while we were waiting

WDW148.jpg

From there, we headed into Frontierland.

WDW118.jpg

On our way to the mountains, we stopped in a shop with some hats just begging to be modeled

WDW122.jpg

Continued . . . .

. . . . continued . . . .

From there it was straight to BTMRR WOOHOO!!!!! The posted wait was 20 minutes, but it actually took 8. So far, our plan to tackle an EMH park first thing was a great idea! :thumbsup2

WDW125.jpg

WDW127.jpg

WDW128.jpg

Kim and I asked David to take a picture, and he took it upon himself to take his own before one of us. (He's a close runner-up with liking pictures of himself  )

WDW032.jpg

WDW033.jpg

Wow, I managed to get in a lot of pics in 8 minutes, huh?

13.jpg

12.jpg

Very quickly, we were loaded onto our runaway train and headed for the "wildest ride in the wilderness"!! (Sidenote: does anybody else just have to say that along with the recorded voice on this ride? Okay, maybe not, on with the report . . . )

WDW130.jpg

WDW131.jpg

WDW133.jpg

WDW136.jpg

WDW142.jpg

Man, I just love that ride! Next stop was Splash Mountain - another major fav of mine!!! The ride was so much fun - the entire time we talked about who would get soaked

WDW144.jpg

WDW034.jpg

WDW035.jpg

WDW147.jpg

We didn't have to wait very long to find out - guess who it was . . .

WDW145.jpg

Hahahaha!!!!! Isn't her face priceless!!! With the rest of our tooshies nice and wet, we walked at a leisurely pace toward Main Street. We stopped in at Casey's and had a hot dog to hold us over until lunch at Epcot. (Sad to say that Kim did not "get her lunch" of rottissierie chicken, but she wasn't too heartbroken - hey, you gotta leave something to look forward to on the next trip, right?) Anyhoo, the hot dogs did not disappoint, and we left from Casey's content and ready for a little shopping! We took our time going in and out of all the shops on Main Street, picking up a few things here and there. Oh, and can I just say how awesome it is to shop and send stuff back to your resort!!! We used it as much as possible this trip and loved it! Our last stop before leaving MK was the Main Street Bakery . . . mmmmmm . . . just inhale with me and imagine the smell of homemade fudge . . . . . aaaahhhhhhhh. . . .

WDW150.jpg

WDW152.jpg

Okay, so typing it out makes it seem like we didn't accomplish very much but I swear we did! :rolleyes1 I guess without stopping for all of the smaller rides, you just kinda breeze right through it. Oh well, it was just about noon and we had already done everything we had planned to do in MK and were on our way to Epcot - Woohoo!!! Stay tuned to find out if the mob of people NOT at MK were waiting for us at Epcot - would we even get to ride Soarin'? Any fastpasses left for Test Track???? You'll find out next time . . .

"Not that we aren't fans of fairies, creepy dolls, and pooh bears, but we had bigger things in mind." :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Kim's face is priceless on Splash!!

Great update! I couldn't wait to get home and read it! :rotfl: That was the BEST morning. The lines were great, the crowds were low, the tempreture was AWESOME. I love it. Great pics so far!!!;) You are correct in that Jason and I didn't climb the treehouse. We hung back and looked around the little shops there as well :thumbsup2

That is all I have to say for now....I just want to add a few pics (If you don't mind :flower3: )

I just love this one of you and B waiting for BTMRR:

I know - we get that all of the time. Not sure if it's our hair color and body shape or what, but we think it's funny. She was 7 when DH and I met, so we used to try and make people think we were sisters - kinda funny that now people do. :goodvibes

Day 1 - Part 2 - Epcot

Let's see, where did we leave off? Oh yeah, we were finished up at MK and were taking the monorail over to Epcot. By the time we carried our goofy-selves into the park, it was about 1:15 in the afternoon. Even with our hot dog snack from Casey's, we were all VERY much ready for some lunch!!! We decided that we should try and catch Soarin' and Test Track before heading into the countries, though, because of the afternoon crowds that we were expecting to encounter. Oh, but before we headed off to The Land we stopped for some photopass pics. (Look, Katie, I remembered them this time! :rotfl: )

Image058.jpg

Oh, and Kyle making the face that their 1 1/2 year old makes when he says "Ooooh, what's that?????"

Image062.jpg

Image051.jpg

Image070.jpg

Okay, so with our photo op out of the way we headed off to check the wait time for Soarin'. Oh, I almost forgot - the ladies stopped to strike some poses by the fountain close to the entrance at Epcot - good times . . .

WDW048.jpg

WDW049.jpg

Okay, enough detours, onto The Land! When we reached the pavillion, the posted wait said 30 minutes, but the lady at the stand-by entrance said it was more like 20. Well, for those of us experienced park-goers 20 minutes for Soarin' at 1:30 in the afternoon is phenomenal so into the line we went. The line moved incredibly fast - we didn't even get to stop for the arm waving game that you get to play in the line. The ride was as awesome as usual - everyone loved it! As soon as we got out of our hand-glider, we headed off in the direction of Test Track - oh, but with a short layover at Club Cool. Christy had made the comment that she was VERY thirsty, so Brandon and Jason thought this would be a good time to coherse someone into trying the Beverly. Their plan didn't work! Geez, I don't know why Christy, Kyle, Kim and David would be suspicious of Brandon and Jason trying to convince them to "just try it, it's so good" when everyone around us is making bitter faces. :confused3 They weren't buying it!

WDW156.jpg

Jason says, "Try it - see it's sooooo yummy . . . "

WDW157.jpg

Christy says, "I don't think so!"

WDW158.jpg

Kyle, as usual, has to try them all just because he's Kyle. :rotfl: He wasn't totally grossed out by the Beverly, but he definitely didn't go for seconds!

WDW162.jpg

And for some strange reason, David felt the need to break into his "special" dance to the music playing in there

WDW160.jpg

A pic of the group doing a little shopping

WDW166.jpg

Oh, and no stop would be complete without a pic of me and Kim

WDW159.jpg

And speaking of Kim, some song that she really likes started playing as we were leaving, and she starting singing along . . . very . . . very . . . loudly!!!

WDW168.jpg

Atleast she was on key! :rotfl: Okay, I actually have to go do something work related now, so I'll be back shortly with more . . .

Oh maybe someday this could be me and the wife. Rides to go on that WE wanted to go on. Dillying and Dallying through the world showcase and riding rides we want to. Ok so I may be a wee bit jealous. :rolleyes1

Day 1 - Part 3 - Epcot Cont'd

Okay, well I am sad to say that upon leaving Club Cool, we lost 2 of our crew members. :guilty: Kyle has a condition called gout, and when it's flared-up it causes him immense pain when he's on his feet a lot. He and Christy chose to find a shady spot to sit and chillax for a little while. The rest of us headed over to Test Track and told them that we would meet up with them afterward to head into the countries and find something to eat. We were sad to leave them behind, but knew that the last thing Kyle needed was to push on at this point if he was going to last the rest of the night. When we got to Test Track, the posted wait was 30 minutes also, but we could tell from the spot that the line stopped inside that it wouldn't be nearly that long. We got in line and did what we do in most every line - take some pictures!!! LOL!!!

WDW052.jpg

WDW053.jpg

WDW054.jpg

Katie, I totally should have warned you that Kim and I are camera hogs and that you and Christy were just going to have to throw yourselves in front of the camera if you wanted to be in any of the pictures!!! :rotfl: So sorry my friend - I hope you forgive me.

Oh, look, here you are! The 6 of us rode in 1 car together - girls in front, guys in back. We didn't know that the guys had a plan for that, but you'll see what I mean in a sec

WDW170.jpg

WDW172.jpg

WDW173.jpg

WDW174.jpg

Ugh can you believe that crazy cave-person that jumped in our Test Track car and blocked all of our pictures with his hair!?!?!? And here is what I meant by the guys plotting against us with the seating arrangements

Image071.jpg

These boys are just too much sometimes. When we finished our ride, we called Kyle and Christy and they met up with us as we enterred the countries by Mexico. The short rest had done Kyle real good, and he was ready to press on. We took things really slow on this part of our touring. Our dinner reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we had no need to rush and it was amazing to just stroll along slowly and stop to look at whatever we felt like. I think it was at this moment that I realized what a different trip it was at Disney without kids. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy EVERY second of our vacations with the kiddos, but this pace we had been running all day was so enjoyable! I knew right here that my mom was getting an amazing souvenier for taking such good care of my munchkins so that DH and I could enjoy this trip together. :flower3: Wow, that turned into a big paragraph of mush didn't it? On with the fun stuff shall we . . .

Here are some pics of a group of acrobats that we stopped to watch in China - they were WAAAAAAAY flexible - I think the guys were impressed, what do you think? :upsidedow

. . . . continued . . . .

We watched the show for a long while, then headed on further into the countries. We were all keeping our eyes open for something that sparked our interest for lunch. Gee, imagine what our plain jane family of eaters stopped to check out - the menu at the America pavillion!!!

WDW206.jpg

WDW207.jpg

Kim, David, Kyle, and Christy decided that this was as adventurous as they were getting, so they stopped here for a bite. Katie made mention of some yummy croissants she remembered seeing in France last time, so the other 4 of us headed off in that direction. MAJOR PROPS to Katie here b/c our lunch was sooooo delicious!!!! She, Brandon, and I think Jason too had croissant sandwiches and I had a ham and cheese quiche. It was all really good!

After we had all eaten, we met back up with the rest of the crew somewhere near I think Italy????
