A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ariana would say, "Rescue the cookie!"

I love it! :lmao: How can you say no, mom? She's only trying to rescue the poor cookie!

 I used to get the cold stare and then I had to wait for the repeated attempts  I know where she got her stubborness from. i used to tell her " you may be stubborn but you got it from me and you only got half. I got the whole thing"

I try to think of it this way.... they have the power of positive thinking to the extreme! (If I keep asking, eventually she will say yes!)

I plan on bringing mine with games loaded up for him.. we plan to get him one for Christmas or his birthday but those of course fall after Disney and I don't want to get him such a costly gift for no occasion.

A lot of kids at Billy's school have the hand-held games like Nintendo DS. They are so expensive, though! And Billy is kind of rough on electronics. This is his second ipod this year... he had a shuffle but after he broke that we just replaced it with the most basic model.

I look as it as an investment. If it keeps him occupied and well-behaved on the bus to and from school then it's worth it, to me. :thumbsup2

I hear you about saving "big" gifts for big occasions...

Good updates! Rude people make me mad! Sorry the food at 50's was not all that great. Hope Billy makes it through Fantasmic!

Usually I love their pot roast! Oh well, sometimes there has to be an exception to prove the rule. ;)

Hopefully I will get through the end of this day by the end of the month... :rolleyes1

Great update Kathy. I am sorry to hear that Billy was not feeling so great after dinner. I hope he starts to feel better soon! At least he knows just what to ask for when he is feeling under the weather.

Sorry your pot roast was less than stellar. I agree that it is hard to eat at PTC when you are not really hungry. I hope you get to see Fantasmic!

Yes, I'm thankful that he is good at communicating when he doesn't feel well. If I ask he will say "head" or "tummy" if something hurts.

Those tempa-dots aren't the most accurate, but at least it gave me the heads up that something was brewing.

(Cue the ominous music.)

Loved your update, as usual. Always something fun going on in your touring! Too funny that the girls thought the shared bathroom was the most interesting thing since the Fantasyland expansion announcement.

Hope this little 99 doesn't turn into anything more!!

Thank you!
(See comment above about ominous music...) :worried:

I can be pretty sneaky sometimes....... :tiptoe:

;)

I'm always afraid that I'm going to miss someone and not reply!
Glad you tiptoed on over!

Alex has a DS but he actually bought it himself with his own money 2 years ago. He told everyone who had ears to listen that he wanted money for Christmas and Birthday to buy his nintendo DS and he got enough between the two holidays.. he was very excited.. of course that was when they where hard to find right after the holidays and it took 2 months to locate one.. the wait.. was NOT FUn! :)
Alex overall is really careful with his things.. He will pick apart little thing like paper and erasers but his toys and his games etc he is obsessively organized with them. He played with his dads ipod ( before dad lost it@@ ) and he still uses mine and he is pretty good with it.. My thoughts are the same.. I see getting him one as an investment that saves a lot of peoples a lot of a time by giving him something to focus on.

I love how Billy asks for cookies. That is hilarious and so clever!!

I had to go to the MK First Aid station in December and they were wonderful. I was so impressed at the calm oasis it was. :) Good to hear that they had Billy's orange medicine.

(What's that? Ominous Music?? I don't hear any music....I'm the girl who goes outside when the axe murder is running around in the woods...)

Aw, poor Billy! I love that he is so intent on seeing Fantasmic that all of a sudden he's feeling better! :rotfl: Hope he really is better!

Great update Kathy! So funny about the girls' fascination with the bathrooms....go figure! :confused3

We've never done PTC with the kids....I bet they would enjoy it. Sorry about the pot roast...I'm glad your waiter didn't have to fork feed it to you! LOL!

What a shame that Billy is feeling under the weather. :sad2: It stinks when one of the kids is sick at Disney...it happened to Dan on both of our trips. Hopefully Billy will bounce back after a little rest. :)

We usually eat at 50's PTC, too. I love the fried chicken, and I did wind up getting fed my green beans on our NYE trip. The kids loved it!

I hope Billy wasn't getting sick. Maybe he was just feeling run-down---I hope whoever he went to "sea", made him feel better! ;)

ruh-roh!!! :guilty:

Yup.

As far as a DS is concerned, I just know that the stylus (sp?) would be lost within two days!

I wish I had earplugs...

My dream retirement job would be to work p/t as a nurse in the MK first aid station! :cloud9:

PTC is always fun... even if you get a mediocre server, there will be more playful ones close by! I think the boys would love it! And the food is usually quite good, too. And the milkshakes! mmmmmmm!

Just finished catching up, and I'm really enjoying your updates! Billy is such a cutie pie too! Can't wait to hear what happens next! :thumbsup2

Interesting update. I have had the chicken and the meatloaf at Primetime, but not the roast. That's the next meal I will be getting, whenever we go again. Sorry yours wasn't so great.

I hope the night ends with a happy Billy and Fantasmic. :)

Thank you; he is looking like such a big boy lately... no more baby!
:lovestruc He still likes to sit on my lap from time to time... my poor legs!!

I've had nothing but the pot roast at PTC... its usually soooo good! I think I just had bad luck with it that night.

I couldn't get either of the girls to try the PB&J milkshake, though! They played it safe with chocolate and vanilla. I hear the PB&J is "to die for!"

The girls in awe over the shared bathroom cracked me up! You just never can tell with teenagers what will rock their boats! :rotfl:

Dinner sounds fun at Prime Time except for Billy not feeling well. I hope taking the Motrin helped bring the fever down.

“Mom!” Tricia exclaimed, “This restaurant has the same bathroom as the place we ate lunch!” Catie threw in some clarification with, “Aunt Kathy, they, like, share the same bathroom!” Tricia explained how they had come across their major discovery: “Catie and I made a wrong turn and we wound up in the restaurant where we ate lunch!” (Hollywood and Vine) Catie jumped in with, “It was like... Oh my gosh! Where are we?” “Yeah, it was like The Twilight Zone for real!” Tricia gushed. “Come with me, let me show you!”

Not wanting to burst their bubble, I nevertheless had to admit that I was already clued in to their secret discovery. “Tricia, we’ve eaten at both these places before,” I reminded her. In truth, they had both become annual traditions. “Didn’t you ever notice that they share the same rest rooms?” Her answer was a negative and they continued to rave about how cool it was. Seriously, these girls were more thrilled about the dual bathroom than they had been about anything they had done in the past two hours! :rotfl:

We let the girls stay outside and look at pins while we took Billy inside. Fortunately for us, this was the first experience we had ever had with using a first aid station at Disney. There was no one else in the waiting room and we were greeted by two pleasant CMs, one of whom was a nurse. We explained the situation and the nurse took Billy’s temperature with a disposable “tempa-dot” paper thermometer that is applied to the forehead. It read “99.” Shoot. :headache:

I knew it.

Luckily for Billy they had the liquid children’s motrin and he was able to take it easily. We thanked them, signed the book, and left. Once outside we met up with the girls and discussed strategy. We considered having one parent take him back to Kidani while the rest of the family stayed in the park but when he got wind of it he balked... loudly. “I want Fantasmic, pleeeese!”

“Billy, you don’t feel well,” I began...

“I feel better!” he insisted. “All better now!”

Love the restroom story that is too funny they did not realize that before...:rotfl: doesn't Sci-Fi share a restroom w/ another restaurant too?

too cute how that became I highlight for them....glad you played along

well I take this is the start of the illness coming into the trip...sorry.

First aid unfortunately has not been one place on my "never-done" list....that is how we finished our 08 trip to Disney w/ poor Naomi-Ruth and her excema flare-up. plus a few other visits among the years.

and isn't that always how it goes...when the plans change to something they like or don't like the mood or sickness perks up or disappears...too bad Billy really was getting sick.

BTW I finally got my DVC 2010 vacation planner in the mail...that was a fun look through, I agree the shots of BLT are wonderful. 7 months today :goodvibes and I'll be looking forward to your hopeful Treehouse review...we'd like to stay there in 2013 w/ the kids and my parents...just worried we'll be a bit cramped w/ 8 people :confused3

no worry on the snails pace...I didn't notice...stretch it out as long as you like ;)

More to come on that, unfortunately...

When it comes to teenage girls I'm learning to expect just about any kind of reaction to anything! :lmao:

Hmmm. I'm not sure. Would that be the ABC Commisary??

 IS RIGHT....

I'm actually beginning to lean more toward Old Key West...

Kathy

That picture is just !!

Sounds like you guys had a good time at PTC! I have to admit, it is one place that I have absolutely zero desire to visit, mostly because we have that type of food at least once a week (thanks to my wonderful MIL ;)), and my BIL is the type that fusses about table manners constantly (in a serious way :sad2:), so we wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy the fun. I really enjoyed reading your update/review, though.

Poor Billy! What a bummer to feel bad on vacation. I hope it was just a fluke and didn't stick around.

Ok, I thought I posted but I don't see it so I am either blind or forgetful. (I vote for both).

We love 50's, I am so sorry Billy wasn't feeling well. I love the look on your face when he is sitting on your lap, pure love. It was so cute when he wanted to stay.

We use the first aid stations several times during our trips due to Bill's disability. We are very thankful for them, the staff in all 4 parks are so courteous and friendly.

I hope Billy got to see Fantasmic :goodvibes.

Thank you; he is looking like such a big boy lately... no more baby!

Yeah, I know what you mean! I was 12 when my oldest nephew was born and he's graduating from high school this year! It's like you blink and all of a sudden they're all grown up! Billy has such an infectious smile I can't help but smile when I am looking through your pictures! You have a lovely family! :)
