A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/12) New Thread Begun on TR Board!

Thank you for posting those menus!! I have been researching Epcot Restaurants as well, and we are really interested in the Chefs De France. Did you know Remi the rat comes around the restaurant? I am really looking forward to surprising my kids when he comes around!;) Plus we haven't eaten there before!

Coral Reef sounds yummy too!

ETA: Remi is going to Tokyo after September 6. Sorry to hijack your thread.....

Kathy---the plan for the back-up ADR at Coral Reef is a great idea. Hope for Le Cellier and be prepared in case you don't get it. I was poking around looking at menus online and it seems like Rose and Crown's children's menu might be good also, they have mac n' cheese!! :thumbsup2

Your back up plan sounds great!! You need to PM me the trick for Le Cellier :rotfl:. I want to go back to Coral Reef, but Bill has no desire. I am going try to talk him into it, I think the kids would like it.

The Coral Reef is really beautiful... not just the fish tank part! The walls and ceilings are all shimmery blues and greens... you really do get the impression that you are dining under water!!

Ahhhh, the food thing... I would guess that most of us with kiddos on the Autism spectrum get "the food thing"

My kiddo is down to like four foods he will eat. Chicken Nuggets, Pizza, and sometimes hot dogs (he likes the plain bun). Sigh.

Glad you found an alternate!

:thumbsup2

The food rigidity is so hard sometimes... I don't think Billy has ever eaten a single vegetable other than carrots, and even they were consumed with great difficulty.

This year he added cheese, hot dogs, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to "his list!" :thumbsup2

I love when people think out loud....:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

We had a great meal at Coral Reef in 08. It does get mixed reviews though....

If you are inclined to have an adult beverage, may I tempt you with an Octopus Juice.....It was kinda like a pina colada, but with Chambourd....sooo good. Pierresgirl (leyla) turned me on to this drink.....

Hakuna Matata... no worries... I'm sorry we'll miss Remy, Billy would've really got a kick out of him. We just saw the movie again the other night...

We have been once he doesn't want to go back.

Oh well... plenty of other places to try!

Sounds like a great alternative!

Thanks! Can you tell that I'm trying to keep busy??

Oooh, sounds interesting. I'm not so much into the pineapple-coconut taste that pina coladas have, though. Do you taste pineapple in that drink??

I have decided that I will overcome my ambivilance toward pineapple and try a Dole Whip for the first time on this trip! Yay!

Yes... I am thinking out loud.

(Sounds a whole lot better than talking to yourself!!) ;)

Having a back-up plan is a good idea.

We enjoyed our lunch at Rose & Crown and they do have mac'n cheese. Another alternative is Garden Grill in the Land. Mickey, Pluto and Chip 'n Dale are there for dinner. Kids meal is chicken nuggets and mac'n cheese and the big hit for my kids was the dessert, for kids they get to decorate their own cupcake adults get a fruit buckle. The cupcake comes plain and then they have little dishes of frosting and candies for decorating.

Your Coral Reef backup sounds like a good fit for your family, but good luck getting Le Celier.:thumbsup2 I don't know how set you are on dinner, but lunch is easier to get and the menu is pretty similar.

Kathy,

Yes. Thinking out loud is better than talking to yourself...I do both...especially in the car. :rolleyes1

That's true! I don't know if I want to eat a big steak dinner in the middle of the day, though. I won't be able to stay awake! My family would have to drop me off in Mexico for a siesta! ;)

Both of those are great suggestions! Perhaps I'd be more inclined to do Rose & Crown because we did have a great character lunch at Garden Grill in '07. It's been much longer since we ate at Rose & Crown... perhaps it was in '05?? And it would be easy to get a ressie (so long as it wasn't for Illuminations seating!)

Everyone is giving me such great advice... thank you all for your input! As Jordan noticed, I like to think out loud....

It's great when real people actually answer!! :rotfl:

Kathy

You're such a good mom doing all this research ahead of time to help everyone have a good time!! Kudos, Kathy!

But, let's hope the Cellier is open and you can get what mom really wants!

Thanks, Liesa! :goodvibes

But I'm sure Le Cellier isn't going anyplace... if it doesn't work out this time, we'll just have to come back and catch it at a later date! ;)

Kathy

I think I've just found my "alternate" dinner ADR... it's the Coral Reef!! Now if I can't get us into Le Cellier at least I've got a good back up plan!! :thumbsup2

Always a great idea to have a back-up plan in mind, so you are flustered in the moment or have to call back :scared:

and right now when I'm thinking TS meals I scan the kid menu first too :thumbsup2

I think you have a good choice!

Good thinkin! :goodvibes you just KNOW you'll be back ;)

We really liked Coral Reef and it was one of the only dinner sit down meals my ASD son would eat (mac n cheese). He will only eat mac n cheese at this one restaurant by our house:confused3. How can you be picky with mac n cheese :confused3. I had read bad reviews for Coral Reef but we really liked it and went back the following year.

I was able to get Le Cellier for our Sept 09 trip so we are trying that this time.

We get the DDP for Gabriel because snacks alone (plain vanilla ice cream, popcorn, soft pretzels, grapes, juice) add up enough. It also gives him a chance to at least TRY something. (which can be quite amusing or quite the scene:rotfl:). Well and this year it is free dining so even better.

We normally plan more breakfasts because he will eat plain pancakes, plain waffles, blueberry muffins and cheerios if offered. Crystal Palace is our favorite breakfast followed by Boma (haven't been to Kona yet for breakfast).

So, you may recall that I had a phone conversation with DVC Member Services regarding the problem I had at wdw.com. (The system could not bring up my DVC resort confirmation number.) The CM made out a "help ticket" and told me that someone would respond in a few days.

I received a response today....
... and I really think they have no idea what I am talking about.

This is the reply I sent....

Thank you, Buffy, I am aware of that.

My concern has to do with the fact that I cannot retrieve my DVC resort reservation number on the wdw.com site. I will need the system to be able to access my reservation number when I attempt to use the on line dining reservation system.

My concern is that I will not be able to use the on line dining reservation system on wdw.com because wdw.com does not recognize my resort reservation number.

Could I have been any more clear that this?? :confused3

It is looking more and more like I will have to use the old telephone to make my ADRs.....

"Buffy"???

I'm sorry Kathy...but you still made me

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Buffy the Problem Slayer is obviously not as well equipped with slaying Disney website problems as her counterpart was with eradicating vamps!
