Last week my Greek family and I went to Kouzzina for dinner. My dad (whose parents came to this country from Greece) had been at the Dolphin earlier this year for a conference and mentioned that the next time he was in WDW he wanted to try Cat Cora's new Greek place. Being Greek, we normally stick to our own cooking and rarely go to Greek restaurants simply because who could make better Greek food than Yia-Yia (grandma)?
We took the leap last week, and I will start out by saying we had a great time at Kouzzina. Here is the breakdown of how the evening went:
ADR and Actual Seating: We were here the Thursday before Easter, and the Boardwalk area was PACKED. We had an 8:25 ADR and were seated around 8:45. We were a party of 9 and were seated at a large round table - perfect! We loved that we could be all seated together.
Atmosphere: We loved the energy and atmosphere of Spoodles (Kouzzina's predecessor) and Kouzzina was just as much fun. It was very loud, however, which made it difficult to have whole table conversations at times. By the end of our meal, the place had quieted down somewhat. I think had we been a smaller party at table for 2 or 4, this wouldn't have been an issue.
Service: This was the only part of the meal we were less than excited about. Granted it was Easter week and a very crowded night, but I have dined on crowded nights in WDW and had impeccable service. Our waitress was less than attentive and forgot to bring our bread. Nothing earth shattering, but it was late, we were hungry, and things could have moved more quickly.
Food: This one got a thumbs up from everyone. Everything from the bread accompanied by olives and a trio of olive oils (when it finally came!) to the calamari to the entrees was delicious. The favorite entree was the Kouzzina trio, which I would recommend to anyone eating here. The pastitso got a seal of approval from all of the Greeks at the table (and I usually don't like anyone's pastitso except my mother's). My husband got the fish stew which he also enjoyed. We skipped dessert because it was late and things were moving slowly.
Overall: I know Kouzzina is relatively new so I hope this is helpful to someone considering eating here. My family gave the food a thumbs up. It was also a great value for us because I have a Tables in Wonderland card so we got 20% off the check. Without the card it would probably just be average in terms of value. For a few less $ per entree I would probably rather eat at Sanaa, but Kouzzina's location on the Boardwalk makes it more convenient. Cons would definitely be service and loudness of the restaurant. Pros would be food quality and location on the Boardwalk.
Hope this was helpful...just wanted to let the folks know that the food at Kouzzina was approved by at least one actual Greek family!
